My Cheap TVR has hit 102mph in 6.8 secs on a drag strip, and a 10.6 secs standing quarter..
I can find you a Civic that could match those numbers for a LOT less than your cheap TVR. Unless you are talking stock cars and factory warranty, it's a pointless comparison.

That said, bloody awesome TVR!

Giving this to us in the UK, is almost akin to selling the space shuttle to Africans.

Yes same as any other performance car, our roads are so congested and any decent driving roads now seem to have a 50 limit 700+ HP is pointless but we could dream of open roads as we trundle along looking at the speedo and for cameras or take it on a few track days the drag strip or
The ring ???

On the interior debate - you don't look at the interior of a car like this when you are driving it - you are imagining what the car looks like to on lookers as you scream past......or admiring yourself in shop windows

Why would anyone buy an m3 with something like this on offer!

What a sense of occasion! If I was spending good money on a car, I'd expect it to have some joy - I'd have one of these every single day of the week! Fantastic.

Perhaps because they can
a) get an M3 on their driveway
b) park an M3 at the supermarket, the office, the station without overlapping multiple spaces and getting clamped
c) bring themselves to pay the tax and fuel bills for an M3 but not for one of these
d) persuade members of their family that LHD is not inherently dangerous in the UK

On point (d) I have a lot of time for LHD cars in the UK, but have always found them heavily resisted by non petrolhead friends and family. They are especially good in London (for those who still drive in central London) but in urban driving it does help if the car is a sensible size, which the Integrale, E30 M3 and my old Mark II Escort RS2000 were, but this certainly isn't!

I saw a Challenger at the weekend. It was parked up near to the Ferrari's and a bunch of various classic cars at Brooklands. In the US I always thought that it looked quite purposeful but on this day it just looked a mess. I think the comments from another bloke walking past said it all 'yup, typical American car'

Though, all credit to them for the continued arms race in the face of turgid engines.

c) bring themselves to pay the tax and fuel bills for an M3 but not for one of these - suspect that the M3 isn't going to be a whole lot better on MPG and decidedly worse on tax and that's even before you get to service costs
d) persuade members of their family that LHD is not inherently dangerous in the UK - LHD in the UK is not a problem at all

You should have asked the car snob which would be the cheapest to run and which would get you to say the south of France and back with just an overnight bag and a fuel card???

Don't forget the Middle East as well - big wide open roads and cheap fuel.
I have just relocated to the Middle East, and picked up my first car this week. A 6.2L Ford F150 Raptor. I have done approx 300kms so far and worked out today that the 14Mpg that I am getting is costing me less than 50% of the price of the fuel costs for my Touareg 3.0 TDI that I just sold in UK.

Was costing me approx £5.85 for 28 miles in UK, here it costs me £2.70 for 28 miles driving. The Raptor is more fun.

My dear wife has a sublime Challenger SRT, but only the 480 (US) hp version. Fun, but not the most reliable of beasts.
My wife arrives next week, and she has already decided she wants the SRT8. I am actually going to test drive a 2nd hand one on Saturday:-

http://tnydu.biz/DOqO2C

Was considering new as they are so cheap, but over here they are still the 5 speed auto boxes, whereas the Charger now has the 7 speed auto in it, that follows on from the Jeeps getting them last year. So buying new is not going to be financially worthwhile, as it will lose too much when the new model with new gearbox comes out. Interesting to see the Hellcat has an 8 speed box (perhaps I am mistaken and so does the Jeep and Charger already).

I don't think I will buy this one, as the she is not keen on the colour - seriously! However I want to test one first and see what it is all about. On Dubizzle linked above, you will see someone is selling their option for a purchase of the Hellcat in 2015.

So YankeePorker - is it seriously unreliable? Or just typical American unreliable?

Whatever I get I will ensure comes with full 24 month warranty (how long I expect to keep it), as I have heard some horror stories (especially with incompetent mechanics over here) of entire engines having to be replaced due to bad mechanics. FWIW I also did not find the interior too cheap. Probably not as nice as some of the German cars I have had in the past, but at least they won't give up in the heat like the German cars seem to over here!

I cannot remember how I stumbled across the Challenger Hellcat a good few months back. But it was love at first sight and I knew I had to have one. One mean looking mother fu**er.
It has taken a bit of organising but I have a confirmed order for one of the first batch of Hellcats.
Pitch Black (non metallic) with all black Laguna leather (premium leather) and the ZF 8 speed. It will be my daily driver.
You need to take a little time to delve into what Dodge has achieved. Bilstein suspension and big brembo brakes.
All the road tests I have read and watched praised its handling. Whilst it may not be the sharpest tool in the box for the twisties it still makes a pretty good job of it.
I reckon I will average around 20mpg which is a lot better than the 63 amg engined mercs.
The only downside is that when it does arrive and if the missus gets on OK with driving it, she wants her own in red.

Well done.

Looks great here jay Leon's garage. Look how comprehensive the system is. How they have managed all this for the cash over there is amazing.

Corners?

I do like that they're building proper muscle cars again. Something appealing about a car where you could answer every and any criticism by shrugging and saying "but on the other hand, it does have over 700 hundred horsepower".

We bought it 2nd hand with 5k miles on it. It broke down in the first week with brain failure, dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. Managed to limp home, stopping repeatedly to turn off and "reboot". They replaced part of the engine management system. Since then it's had traction control failure 3 times in 2 years, every time it's been a wheel speed sensor. Clutch is now getting dodgy and the 6 speed Tremec manual box has been a problem for many owners but ok for us.

In all fairness the Dodge driveline warranty is good and all repairs have been free and easy. The handling is "interesting", the back steps out nicely even in on dry roads when you give it a bit of welly. It sounds great, when you really give it full throttle it sounds like the devil is behind you and extremely pissed off. Burn outs and quick power u-turns are easy work - first car that I've had that could do that! In all fairness I haven't tested the kind of high speed stability that I'd expect from a European performance car, but I don't expect that it would really meet the standards of a BM or a Porsche.

My wife loves the thing - the chic blonde in a manual muscle car gets her lots of attention and compliments from all the Cubans here in Miami. Makes a bit if a change for her coming from a diesel Renault Espace or an XC90!

The Hellcat must be immense, though I'd still rather have a manual.

If you want owner feedback there's a forum here in the US that was useful to me - search for Challenger talk or some such.

It's surprisingly more capable than what majority of BMW owners will ever push their cars to.
