Happened to me once whilst waiting for my wife outside a shop. Two young girls in a nice car reversed back to within about 2 feet of my front bumper and stopped, then again to within about a foot and stopped. Good thinks I, but no, suddenly reversing lights are back on and the driver comes back and nudged into my car. This is the cue for much giggling and getting out to basically laugh at what happened. I asked her to drive forward so I could see any damage, this she did then walked off???? Her and her mate still giggling and glancing back.
As it happened I couldn't see any damage, but a sorry and a bit less finding it funny would have helped.

But I once saw one car push another maybe 1/2 a car length to get a space in Barcelona. So I should be glad it was a nudge.

Call 999 and report a hit and run.

If they enforce that, that will teach her a lesson.

Only way to stop people doing stuff like this. No matter what damage, if any; if you have had a bump, both parties need to be involved. End of. No excuses.

Don't want to appear as a saint but I hit a small hatchback when leaving a local pub car park. Went back inside the pub and asked the landlord to call out for the driver. No response. Then one of bar staff said that the car been there for days. Anyway I left. During the next couple of hours the guilt pangs increased so I went back and left a note on the windscreen. Another two days went by and then I got a call. It was the owner, a young lad of about 19. He could not believe that I had left my contact details. He was clearly hard up as he immediately took a cash settlement instead of me paying the bill for repairs. I made sure he proved he was the owner of the car by the way.

Good on you OP. The attitude of 'not my problem, I'll mind my own business' is a big problem in this country. The more inconsiderate tts get away with their behaviour unchallenged, the more commonplace it will become.

'are you going to leave a note on that van you just hit?'
Yes.

Dear Mr Vanowner, I have just reversed into your van, lots of people saw me do it, and are watching me now. They think I'm leaving you my name and address, but I'm not.

I don't get this kind of attitude. A friend of mine broke her phone dropping it and just had to get the latest iPhone to replace it. A few weeks later she pulled that out of her bag with the screen all cracked and said she'd dropped that one as well. Why do people have to have the latest brand new things but treat them carelessly and not give a st when they damage them? If image matters it's not a very good image if everything you have is battered to bits. It probably is the people who have it all paid for by someone else.
Exactly. I think it's just a defence because they're embarrased about what they've dine. I said to her I don't know why I bother and that next time I'll just get her an old Ford Escort. hehe

Post the dashcam footage on YouTube and leave a note on the van with a link to the incident. That or ring the police none emergency number.

It's that complete lack of concern that's so annoying - a woman opened her car door into my car whilst I was sitting in it and she just shrugged smiled and walked off............

A noted rise in the temperature of my urine I can confirm

I had a similar situation a few months ago. A woman pulled into the work carpark and whilst pulling into a space scraped down the side of someone's Jaguar. Her colleague was waiting outside the office for her and they both joked about it before moving the car to the other side of the carpark. What they didn't know is that I saw the whole sorry episode.

I waited a few hours, keeping a close eye on the offenders car, before going and breaking the news to the owner of the Jaguar. To say he was angry was an understatement, but more so because she had opted not to own up to it.

A few weeks later I got a call from the guys insurance company who informed me the woman was denying anything happened. Needless to say my witness statement was pretty damning.

Report her to the Police for every single thing she did wrong. Get the van owner to press charges.
The only way to fix the problem of people hitting cars and driving away is to get them banned one at a time, hopefully this will make them more careful and more honest.

...it's the principle of her attitude.

She was completely oblivious to what she had done, not a care in the world.
And yet Muller seem to think that this attitude is a virtue and sells yoghurt.

Problem is, the Police are unlikely to be interested if no one has been injured. That's my experience of being hit by someone who drove off anyway, no injuries, no real damage to my vehicle, Police did not want to know.

I saw a lwb Iveco van sideswipe in a Tesco carpark - they knew as drivers mate hung out the window to look. They drove off, so I left details with the lady owner of the van.

Few days later get a call at work about it - turns out to be from someone at the company who's van it was.

"How did you know it was our van?"

"Your company name is in foot high letters down the side . . . "

"oh. . . "

Lady got car repaired.

The attitude of people like this disgusts me. Someone drove into the side of my old car and wrecked the driver's door. I found it that way in the morning on one of the rare occasions I left it on the street- no note, nothing. Given the area it was probably one of the local tracksuit families with no insurance. Happened to my housemate's car too, ripping the indicator out of the front wing, but we caught the trying to drive off and made him hand his details over. He seemed disappointed he'd been seen rather than sorry.

All too common these days.

People just don't seem to think car park prangs are anything to worry about, certainly not considering the whacks off my car from a slung open car door.
