I had a similar thing in the Mrs Fiat 500s the other day.

Being the 'S' version its pretty quick with the bodykit and sports seats, even with the standard 69 bhp.

Followed an Focus ST at a ton, flashed him out of the way. He pulled over and I accelerated - he was wasting his time. I couldn't get past as I had maxed out so pulled back in behind him.

Up behind a 330i who was following a slower car in front. I heard him boot it so I did too, dropped it into 2nd, 9000rpm. Either he bottled out or was outrun but at 100mph he was nowhere to be seen (think he may have turned off on the slip road)

Same thing with a Mini Cooper. I don't know which model it was, (i do know it wasn't the S as i have great respect for them.) Blah blah blah he lost hands down.

Thanks for listening

Can you chip it? I know the 335d is quick, but it sounds like this srt8 could be even quicker with a chip. Could this be possible?
I'm not sure. I think if you went down the chip tuning route in an SRT8 6.1, you'd need special tyres at the very least? You'd probably need a wheely bar as well.
Yes, Diablo Motorsport in the USA do a plug in tuner, it backs up the factory tune, puts in a new one and then you reverse it when you take it for servicing.

I ran an SRT8 saloon for a while, with a Diablo custom tune, cold air intake and exhaust it was pushing 500BHP and the conservative factory 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds dropped to just over 4 seconds.

They are pretty under rated cars.

did you put it on a rolling road?
Gains seem very high considering an exhaust, CAI and a diablo stock tune.
Yep, with what you mentioned above it was 379RWHP.

It was subsequently tuned by Johan remotely from Diablo Sport and he squeezed a lot more out of it but I didn't get a chance to dyno that change, from memory it was pulling the 1/4 in 13.02 seconds.

Something doesn't quite add up with the car.

It has 425bhp but can only manage a top speed of 168mph (really bad aero?). Somehow manages to pull on lighter cars with higher top speeds and faster 0-60 times.

Also the 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds with 379rwhp (440 at the crank? all those mods for a 15bhp gain?). Seems a little generous for a car that weights two tons and takes a full 13 seconds in the 1/4.

They do sounds great though.

Surely quicker than 13 odd for a quarter, that's what 350Z's tend to do and they cant drop a 911 or M3, doesnt add up.

They were factory limited to 168mph, unlockable with a Diablo.

The 379RWHP was before further work, incidentally a pretty similarly tuned VXR8 only managed 352RWHP on the same dyno, same day.

Well thanks for all your contributions although some of you may not have experienced an srt8. Forget the 5.7 - it's like a wizened old man in comparison!!
If any of you like luxury, space and speed, this is it. 0-60 in 5.0 secs, 168mph top speed.
Having a 6.1 engine it has an enormous amount of grunt, especially when you are going fast already. Followed an M3 at a ton, flashed him out of the way. He pulled over and accelerated - sorry M3's - he was wasting his time.
Up behind a TVR who was following a slower car in front. I heard the TYVR drop a gear as the guy in front of him was about to pull in to the left lane. As he did so, both the TVR and myself both hit the gas. either he bottled out or was outrun but at 120mph he'd had it! Don't forget, from 120 to 150mph+ is absolutely effortless in the SRT8.
Same thing with a Porsche 911. I don't know which model it was, (i do know it wasn't the turbo as i have great respect for them. However, cruising at 85mph he came up fairly fast and then the same sort of thing as above - he had to sit behind some old codger. After codger had pulled in we were off. Sorry 911's, it doesn't seem you'll outrun the SRT8. He lost hands down.

I don't think any of the driver expected to be beaten by an estate car!
Who's 300c where you driving here?

Was it the made up one that needs a service and a superchip or whatever, or is it the made up one you might have bought after posting on here you want to buy one?

The LS3 has more RWHP than you're quoting when it's stock, I hope your mate didn't pay too much for his mods. wink
Having run a modified LS3, LS7 and a supercharged 4.6 stang, I'm still unconvinecd with the gains.

Saying all that, I hope I'm wrong, I'm currently in the market for an SRT8 Jeep wink

As to the reality of the thread, we've moved on from the OP ages ago and the it's got far more interesting

I had an LS2 VXR8 manual, remapped, CAI and catback and that only pulled 350 RWHP too.

I appreciate people don't like the 300C but the SRT8 versions, Jeep included are excellent engines, I'd take another SRT8 product in a heartbeat and that's from someone who just sold a supercharged LS3 VXR8 (emigrated).

That's nothing, my 2 litre Germanish repmobile does this every day whilst getting 80 to the gallon. And the seats recline far enough to get blowys off the models who work at my customers factories.

Surely there's an owners club that you'd have better luck on?
Is it that they are so rare you'd end up asking yourself questions about a future purchase at said owner's club meet?

Is a 300C the car for me?
If you seriously want all those things then look no further. I've had two and looking for a newer one. Actually mines only done about 45,000 so its not really that old!

Thanks for your help. Can you advise me how to get more info on this?

To be honest, I've heard about a suprercharger that I can have fitted for £7000 all in, providing another 150bhp I'm told. That would mean I would be almost 600bhp!!! This is why I am looking for a 'newer' low mileage car so that i can get my moneys worth 'long term'. My present car is a 59 plate with about 45K miles so its certainly not 'old'. If i can't find a newerr one, then I'll convert this. Have you heard about the supercharger and if so, what do you think?
