The first two posters summed it up.
No, like yourself, they got the wrong end of the stick & started whining about people jumping queues. What the OP actually wrote about was ONE person BLOCKING THE ENTRANCE to the forecourt.

That's even more retarded than queueing to get a pump on the "right" side. Just pull up to any old pump, believe it or not the hose is long enough to go round the otherside! It's like they sit down and think about these things when designing the pumps or something.
I don't see how its retarded. I know the pump is long enough, however i'd have to hold the hose away from the roof of my car whilst I fill up, as I don't want it sat on my paintwork. I drive a Honda Accord estate, so it wont go round my car, it'll have to go over it.

But I guess you're probably one of many who's ability to drive diminishes as soon as reverse is selected. Fortunately for me, I can reverse up to the pump, an fill my car up with no worries at all, no queuing, and no holding the hose.
You're quite wrong. I have good command of reverse driving, I just don't see the point in doing unnecessary things. I have a volvo, hoses still go round the car nicely because you just pull up a bit more forward than you usually would so the hose doesn't have as many bends to go round. Works a charm. Then again, I also have a honda so I can see why you are worried about paint. The honda stuff is softer than the softest cheese.

Calm down mate.

Go out for a ride on your bike and cool off.

Make sure you get some petrol in it first...
All good here my friend, nothing wrong with this callsign. You're the one getting your frillies in a twist. And on that note, I'm definitely off out for a ride. Enjoy your afternoon.

A lot of the hoses i've seen dont reach over from above, they come from out of the pump itself.

Still PLENTY long enough to reach around the average car.

Sure, there are instances where you can't fill from the wrong side - a van, f'rinstance, where the filler is behind the front door - but for 90+ of vehicles in the average filling station? Dead easy. IF you engage brain. Which, of course, is the usual problem.
They're designed to retract automatically so you're going to struggle to not have them hit your bodywork.
Run it under the rear bumper, behind the wheels. It's plenty long enough.

I'm with the OP.

Pick a pump and queue behind it, don't sit there at the entrance waiting for whichever one finishes first. You don't go to the supermarket and create 1 queue to cover 6 checkouts.
Let the stupid do their stupid and carry on with your enlightened way of life.

The hoses reach to the other side of the car if you park close enough. So i dont really care which side the pump is at. I just hold the hose so it doesnt actually touch the car smile
Saying that, I've more than once saw a traffic police BMW 3 series pull into an empty petrol station, in the dead of the night, and pull up to a pump that's on the wrong side of the fuel cap and proceed to stretch the hose to its limits right round the car and fill up. Why they do it I have absolutely no idea??? :/

Can't have been blocking the entrance if the op got past them? Looks like you read it wrong.

Read the first sentence of my first post - it starts with IF

This may have been said. But why when you go to fuel pump it says, waiting for authorisation? (person inside saying yes to me getting fuel).

Personally I don't wait i will just use whats there but I would have a preference to not stretch it round or over the car.

What is it with 'the correct side' mob, every garage ive used in the last 10 yrs has hoses that will reach either side.

As in queue for a pump, or queue that spills dangerously onto a main road due to the person at the front blocking everyone?

I always use pumps on the 'correct side'. If that pisses people off, so be it.

I love how people are reading the topic title, not reading the 1st post then accusing others of being in too much of a rush.

If theres already a queue, join the queue. Dont be a prick and decide your own rules on what that queue should be and drive round everybody.
So everyone should wait on the one person at the front who's taken it upon themselves to decide for everyone that they'll wait until the next pump is available? Choose a pump and drive over to it, don't hold everyone else up.
If thats whats happening and theres already a queue of people doing that, then yes.

Would you do it in a bank or post office? Just walk past everyone and stand behind someone getting served?
Pathetic, banks and post offices have a queuing lane which the front person goes to the next window, there aren't many banks or post offices that will have 10-15 or maybe 20 windows open like a garage will have pumps so your arguement is ridiculous.

When you go to a petrol station that's busy, pick a pump and wait at it, if it takes longer than some others that's tough, who are you to determine how quick the queue moves???

Me me me me me me as always

Quite, I'm frankly amazed that people think it's OK to sit in front of say 10 petrol pumps, just choose your pump and let others choose theirs.

(Having said that I've never seen it happen)

It's not uncommon at some. One of our local supermarkets has a "sliplane" from the carpark exit - numpties sit at the end of that waiting for a pump to come free. Unfortunately for their logic, there's another entrance from the road, the other side of the forecourt, so people drive straight in there and queue at a pump. If more than about three cars joined that line (for eight pumps!), it may well block the exit from the car park itself...

I used to be the same untill I got my golf, you cannot get the fuel to despence properly by brining the pump around, I've done it 3 or 4 times and it clicks all the way though, I'm happy to wait now

So at a supermarket you just queue and block up all the checkouts so nobody can get to them do you rather than just pick on and wait until its clear?
I specifically avoided stating supermarkets because they use a different system to post offices and marks and sparks etc.
