They appear to be going down the road of a totally unmanned model, not sure that this is good for the medium to long term future of fuel retailing. (Unmanned supermarket forecourts could put incredible pressure on the traditional oil retailers, further killing choice in market)
Theres an unmanned ASDA one close to me and just up the road from it theres a full blown BP station with shop, etc. The BP station still does very well, even though the ASDA station is usually a penny a litre or so cheaper. I guess a lot of the time now people combine getting fuel with getting other bits and pieces.

That is massively different from someone waiting for the next available pump to come up with. The chap is talking about running in front of someone in a queue. It's scummy behaviour.
OP's approach makes more sense than jamming the entire forecourt entrance imo. Whilst I won't drive around someone who is already queuing at the entrance, I'm firmly in the "queue at pump & hope the user finishes up soon" camp. Generally I wait behind a car whose driver is in the shop as they are only going to be a couple of minutes tops. This is more considerate behavior than jamming up the entrance for everyone (possibly creating spillover on to the slipway or road) spactard style.

If there is a free pump and people are queuing because they are to stupid to realise the hose is long enough to reach the opposite side of their car then I will happily drive round everyone to use said pump. I think of it as educational, the retards queuing should now realise they had no reason to queue.

This may traumatise a few people, who think they (obviously) must know something other people don't. cool

Human Nature 101:

Everybody knows that the pump hose will reach the other side of the car if you pull it across the back of your car - its not really a secret and won't come a huge surpise if they see you do it - or be followed by an "If only I knew, I have wasted X years of my life, thank god that other driver saved me from a life of drudgery"

I think its pretty much obvious people 'choose' not to drag the hose over the car, unless they are in a hurry and don't have the spare 0-120 seconds to wait.

Hence, they really won't care at all when someone behind them wants to move forward into the empty slot. (by definition they have rejected it).

What a strange outlook you have.

Is everyone who chooses not to bother with a pump on the opposite side really a retard?

I do hope your spelling mistake was ironic.

You are right. Jamming up the whole forecourt to hedge your bets is more selfish than committing to a queue.

I hope these people never use the Dartford bridge. They'd probably park on the crest of the bridge waiting for a toll booth to become free.....

Had one yesterday, car in front of me wants to turn right into the filling station but the entrance is totally blocked by a large truck which didn't look to be going anywhere soon due to cars at pumps. So he just sat there with RH indicator going while me and the vehicles behind me sat and waited.....
