Hello All,

As the title suggests really, what would be the fastest car you could buy in a straight line for 2k?

Say from 0-100 sprint.

Links to an advert would be good!

Was thinking maybe an old scooby, fiat coupe turbo, maybe an rx8 if didnt blow up? biggrin

For around that price mark most things seem to be around 200bhp and high 6's low 7's to 60.

There is a 2002 Merc E500 on the trader for 2250, so that with a bit of bartering is my vote! 0-60 in 5.9, 149mph top speed.

Jaguar XJR?
This would be good:

There's usually an X308 version around for that price too (I can't be bothered to search much). They're a bit less tough than the X300 I posted but even quicker - circa 5 seconds 0-60.

Toyota MR2 Turbo. 241bhp, 0-60 in 5.2, 160mph top speed, 1/4 mile 13.4sec. Unfortunately 2k probably would get you one, so much bang for your buck.

As mentioned, probably an XJR, with the v8 engine. I think the 0 - 100 mph is 12.8 seconds. The 6 cylinder one is about 15 seconds to 100.

In a straight line to 100mph my money would be on a rusty V8 AMG merc.

Very nice too Simon. Did you sell your C36, or is this in addition?

Will be a shed for the £2k budget though. And you won't get a 240+bhp Rev3 for that money.

Understandable! Three AMG's are potentially excessive. Would love a w202 C55 , but this is the wrong thread!
