My BMW E21 323i for £800 in 2003. Man, I miss it.
In 1998-ish, I was offered an E21 (only a 316) for nothing. It needed a gearbox, but it was immaculate as it had been owned by a retired bloke since new.It was pre the internet being a big thing, so I turned it down, as it would have been a pain to locate a box for it.
These days, I'd have ripped his arm off, as a 'box would have been a 10 minute google away.
(Similarly, I saw a Porsche 924 advertised for something silly like £150 back then, but it needed a new rear hatch - similar issue, where would you even start to look in the pre-internet era?)
(Yes, I know we had internet in 1998 - I'd been active online since 1992 - but you couldn't easily search for parts way back then)

Mine too was spotless, absolutely loved it but had to get rid of it sharpish as I was away overseas at hideously short notice. I can't think about it too much as it still winds me up 11 years on!It was pre the internet being a big thing, so I turned it down, as it would have been a pain to locate a box for it.
