Just wondering if anybody has any recommendations for an F1 driving experience - I've got quite a large birthday coming up for a close family member and this is one of the options.

There's ones like this, but I've heard the three sisters track is a little small to fully exploit an F1 car. Then you've got your more expensive options such as this one, but I've not seen any reviews on these so not sure they're worth the extra cash.

Are there any recommendations, and if you've done one of these F1 experience days, how did you find it?

Isnt Three Sisters more of a go-kart track?

I've never been there so couldn't say! I have heard about karting up there though, so must be a fairly small track.

That first link, cheeky buggers. They imply you get your mitts on a Maclaren V8 but the asterix notes your get to drive something else on the day.

3 Sisters is a (wide) kart track, but that means driving more corners.

I did an XR3i & Formula Ford session there in the early 90s, which was good.

For the cost of the first one, you could do a day at both PalmerSport and the Silverstone Challenge. I'd suggest looking at both of those unless you desperately want to drive an F1 car, as you'll have far more opportunity to push cars to (and beyond!) their limits.

An "F1" car round there would be rubbish. Another vote for Palmer Sport. An amazing day out that's well worth the money.

Technically they're correct - the engine supplier for these cars is Nicholson McLaren Engineering. No link to Mr Dennis & co, but they're heavily involved in historic F1.

Power to weight must be awesome on that. Should keep little Johnny amused.

Thanks for the suggestions.

He's already done a coupe of Palmersport days, so I was looking for something a little different. For the record he loved both days though!

I also had a look at the Silverstone Challenge day as suggested which looks like great fun, but I don't think it'd offer him anything new over what he's already experienced, other than the Defender off roading.

Thanks for this link! It does look like a pretty tight track.

My old man did it in the South of France a few years back and it was a decent experience if slightly short on actual "track" time. He was over the moon with it being a big F1 fan.

Know the Three Sisters quite well, you're right it is mainly a kart circuit but it means that any sensation of speed in a car is quite a bit greater. It's a really good day, the f1 experience and the instructors certainly look after you.

We run days where you can take your own car out on circuit, next one is the 9th of Nov so have a pop down if you fancy a look. You'll see me there wink

The car you drive at the Three Sisters "experience" is a 1990s Forti. The Magny-Cours "experience" is run by the guys who used to work for the AGS F1 team. From what I have heard it's worth spending the extra on this one.
