So, anyone bought this yet? I see it's still available on PH classifieds. Surely the provenance is there given that at least two PHers have owned it???

I might be tempted if it hangs around any longer...

Drove behind one for about 30 mins when we picked up the S5 from Aberdeen a few months ago, sounded immense!

Had mine for a week now. The noise is utterly addictive. Actually getting slightly better than the published MPG figures on my daily commute (when I don't give in to that noise ...) although that really shouldn't be the point.

SWMBO hasn't yet commented on hard ride or asked me how big the engine is so all is well.

Now while i'm not a diesel fan, i fail to see how a diesel is 'too stressed' as their nature is for lower revs typically than petrol equivalents and they normally last longer in terms of mileage unless i'm missing something stressed with heavy oil?

Diesels run very high compression ratios, which means the block has to be very tough - which is why, for about 20 years after all-alloy petrol engines began to become common (apart from specific examples like the Rover V8 which had been around much longer), diesels were still using iron blocks. They've only began to go all-alloy within the last decade (much more recently than that, in many cases).
