Yet another fast but ultimately dull Audi, I cannot understand why anybody gets remotely exited about cars like this.
Have you driven one? Not everyone wants a fast car to say "I'm fast", so this appeals to a lot of people myself included. Everyday transport, with something more special tucked away in the garage for driving fun?

It really is a lovely thing the interior is superb and it looks very purposeful in the flesh, not driven one but had a passenger ride and I can't think of a much better way to do long distance driving for the money.

I'd have it as an estate, in black. 450bhp in a car that could be mistaken for a 2.0TDi.
I think therein lies the problem for me. £60K worth of car that could pass as 2.0 TDI, no thanks.
Some people, myself included, prefer to have a car that is faster than it looks, rather than having a car which looks faster than it is. Which, incidentally is the main reason I sold my non turbo mk2 MR2 smile

Just got the similar S8 and delighted with it. It readily replaces an A8 and GTR in one car, replicating 90% of the best bits of each. It is more confidence inspiring than the GTR as the tail is more stable except for a small twitch under power exiting a corner, but in road use it is not evidently replaced by understeer. Amazingly under rated cars IMHO, off the radar, not flashy. Everything I'm looking for, I am a new Audi fanboy.

Not sure anyone is.

However, this is where Audis start to make sense imo. A large barge doesn't need the last word in dynamics or steering feedback.
Absolutely! What would be frustrating in more overtly sporting stuff doesn't matter as much here. It's still annoying when you sense one decent set up would do a better job than five average ones but for going fast discreetly and in beautiful surroundings it must be hard to beat. Likeable if not brilliant for me.

Those fenders are killing me. I don't care if it is greatest car. Give me wide fenders. I do not understand what it is with manufacturers trying to make fenders as simple as possible every passing year. It looks so boring.

i'd love a job as a stylist at Audi , only have to do some work once every 10 years.

Dull Dull Dull.
Since when did Audi employ their own hairdressers?
Test drivers for the TT?

I think a lot of people posting here are revealing themselves as not being part of the target market for this car.

RS6 from Layer Cake had 450bhp - same horsepower as this latest offering.

When is 2015 RS6 due? Next year?

Didn't the second sentence hint that I already know what fenders are to our septic cousins?

If you want driving fun then get something that's got class, style, heritage, history and performance as well. Pull up at a decent hotel in this and most people think "tosser" as at some point during their day an Audi will have been glued 3 inches from their rear bumper !
Oh and please don't run out the tired "Quattro" as being any of the above qualities, that was over 20 years ago

Have Audi done anything truly original or decent since then ??

It's quattro but good point. Just take a look at a B7 RS4 or even the RS6 before last.

I think the best part of this is that it will probably be rarer than the RS, plus you could afford a few more options. If I didn't have a new S3, this might be a consideration, in Avant form, naturally.
