Really like this, i seem to prefer the looks of the S models to the RS ones. More subtle and less chav looking.
Agreed. My boss has an RS3 and it looks bloody awful.

Oh and please don't run out the tired "Quattro" as being any of the above qualities, that was over 20 years ago

Have Audi done anything truly original or decent since then ??
Er, the R8?
Oh please ! LOL

Possibly a good point made earlier, the folk on here are not the target market. They are however the future second, third, forth hand owners of cars like this. Will it all be working in 10-12 years when it will possibly be worth 5, 6k? And also will the fenders be falling apart with rust as so many Audis seem to be doing. They seem to spend a fortune on making the interior last forever but the exteriors end up looking dreadful, who would be happy looking at scabby rust every time you walked to your once flashy Audi. Audi and a few other German manufactures need to think of the whole car not just the silly buttons and settings that make for great marketing and give sales people lots of waffle to talk about.

Any point in the RS6 once this has been remapped?
Remap the RS6 for 750bhp+
Will the S6 or RS6 achieve 150bhp+ on a remap??
If you consider that the S4 (333PS) can easily keep up with an RS4 (450PS) after a remap, I'd say this is completely realistic. Audi have quite a track record in recent years or either a) releasing engines tuned way below their full potential or b) massively under-rating their engines in the official figures.
turbocharged vs n/a, what kind of comparison is that? you have no idea

Eh? All the Audi S/RS models are forced induction now. The previous S6's 5.2 V10 was the last n/a engine.

Edit: Apart from the current RS4! I'm such a div!

The RS4, and RS5 are both naturally aspirated and still available to order.

Edit: Just saw your edit!

I have to admit I am struggling. To the average bloke in the pub it's indistinguishable inside and out from a basic TDI S-Line , perhaps no bad thing, but that means you're paying (I assume) north of £25k more than a high spec TDI just for an engine??

I'm no Audi fanboy, but I do seem to remember them winning Le Mans recently. Can't remember the exact year, but I think it might have been sometime between 2000 and 2014.

And what's with saying a car has no history or heritage, then in the next breath bringing up their dominance in Group B? That was actually 40 years ago, so it seems like history and heritage are both covered.

Never get these, people praise the m5 and e63 for looking like a 520d and a e220 cdi but audi do it and they get slagged off?

Not only that, but Audi DO produce a more sporty looking one in the shape of the RS6, but people still complain about it!

Audi must be wondering what they have to do to make people happy. They even give the S6 the option of having soft or hard suspension at the touch of a button, then people complain there's too much choice.

I'm struggling to think of any 10 year old Audis I've seen with rusty, er, fenders.

It's quattro but good point. Just take a look at a B7 RS4 or even the RS6 before last.

I think the best part of this is that it will probably be rarer than the RS, plus you could afford a few more options. If I didn't have a new S3, this might be a consideration, in Avant form, naturally.
Is it a true Quattro system? I thought it would be a Haldex system.

Can't say I see too many 10 year old Audi's around full stop if I'm honest. Certainly not compared to the number of E46's you still see purring around - although I have seen a few of them with rusty arches....

There isn't necessarily a 'true' Quattro system, it's a marketing name that Audi use for their 4WD cars; the exact mechanical (and electronic, where applicable) components and details vary with different models/generations.

There's a relatively scruffy 1996 A3 I see several times a week, which looks in perfect condition other than a bit of dulling to the paintwork. Give it a really good cleanup/polish/wax and it would be pristine. It's a boring 1.8 non-turbo FWD model, and when I last spoke to the owner a year back it had a bit under 200k miles and little other than routine servicing. Nowhere near the complexity of an S6, obviously, but for something almost two decades old it's chugging along well.

Yet another fast but ultimately dull Audi, I cannot understand why anybody gets remotely exited about cars like this.
Have you driven one? Not everyone wants a fast car to say "I'm fast", so this appeals to a lot of people myself included. Everyday transport, with something more special tucked away in the garage for driving fun?

My quote says have another car for fun, so what you've written there about heritage etc, is that a question about the fun car I'm referring to? I'm confused by your statement.

I would gladly turn up at a hotel in that cause I coudn't care less what anyone would think about me cause of the car I drive. Must matter to you.

Audi is one of the top quality motoring brands in the world for a good reason. People like what they do.
Have Audi done anything truly decent since then? How about several super fast and capable estate cars with V8's stuffed in the front? That sounds pretty decent to me. smile
