Hey look, another what car thread
Discussion
I'm putting my E36 M3 away for hibernation for the winter (and probably beyond) so somehow have the urge to get another car.
Requirements are:
- Just a weekend/fun car, not a daily driver
- Budget is flexible, will look at anything from £2k to £20k. Depreciation (lack of) is more important.
- Won't be ruinous or need a warranty to run
- Nothing new and boring
- Preferably won't need a garage space which will cost me £800 a year to rent (read: Caterfields or soft tops which are difficult to keep clean if left outside)
Currently I'm thinking 987 Cayman, 996/997 C2 (is the Porsche itch worth scratching?), some AMG Merc (may not satisfy the ruinous requirement), Clio V6 (is it quick enough?), VX220/Turbo, 90s Japanese Playstation generation cars (R32/33/34 GTR, Supra, RX-7 etc.)
I'm all ears for exciting ideas!

Definitely a Caterham. Maybe with a car cover?
Car cover is a good idea, but may be a bit of a hassle as it won't be parked right outside my place either.Pixelpeep7r said:
What is important to you ?
Speed
noise
experience
if you say all three then it's gonna have to be a tvr ?
Speed is less important, noise and experience definitely.Speed

But would a TVR spend half its time with a garage?

You do realise you are about an hour away from an all out keyboard attack from several angry 'enthusiasts' If you buy one thats had all the issues upgraded/replaced i can't see why it would be any more unreliable than the VX for example?
How about an E36 M3?
You missed the playstationtastic 300ZX, like a Skyline but there are twice as many banks of cylinders and half as many driven wheels
That and the S2k are cheap options.
The Clio V6 iirc is an expensive option, 13k minimum going by the current crop on PH (which handily brings up an Alpina too!), not sure the 0-60 does them justice, the lively handling might make up for it, they also look rather good in a because-race-car kind of way.
I'd get an Elise or VX220 for that money though, if you really don't want an open car.

A proper limited edition such as TME Evo or P1 Impreza?
Think I'd prefer more of an out-and-out sports car. Useful as it may be to have one in winter, I'm not entirely sold on 4WD!What's the consensus of Boys Toys Ltd? They seem to have some tasty cars but very little information on their website.
