So, in a "Life on Mars" style scenario, you've been transported back to 1988 and you're off for a night out on the town. You're all "Miami Viced" up and have got some Wham! pumping out of the Kenwood but what would you be driving?

Lots to choose from. Probably something in a vivid, primary colour like bright red or white! However, an (older) friend had one of these around about that time in this colour too, so I'll go with this!

Pictures please!
^^^^^ Great you have just started my mid-life crisis again!!!

XR3i

In 80s Merseyside there were very, very few 911 Turbos driven by yuppies in red braces, but there were, however, a lot of XR3i's and a lot of these for the family man company car driver:

Perhaps, but they weren't the most popular cars. For every XR3i there were dozens of these:

And those aren't and weren't interesting. Come to think of it, the XR3(i)s weren't all that brilliant, although I have always liked them a bit.

They didn't really sum up the 80s in my part of the world, although my flash uncle did have an XJ12 at one point.

The answer is in your own post. When one is all Miami Vice'd up then one requires only one car and a red one doesn't cut it.

96% of cars in the 80s were a bit rubbish, and would understeer at the hint of an enthusiastic turn.

Countach or Testarossa. Both adorned my bedroom wall in the late 80s, and neither have aged very well!
