Your 35th post was correcting grammar, congratulations.
Thanks.

American-English really gets on my tits. For example, people at a bar "Can I get......" No, you can't. Unless you go behind the bar and serve it. What's wrong with "Please may I have"? That's the correct way.
Your right.
Go for it Beer Man he's left himself open for one of the most common corrections, perhaps ironically though.
I'll correct on his behalf.

I think he means your write.

Re 90, is this folklore or confirmed by anyone? My lad has been claiming it to be the case for some time time now and we stay under just in case, but it would be good to know anyone who can confirm they got done by one for over 90.
On the section from Heathrow to Gatwick, I have regulaly been 100+ and no ticket.

(Tin foil hat already on for the barage of do gooders bleating on about speeding)

Using the M25 last Saturday there was a car in the outside lane braking down to 70 at every gantry, then going back to roughly 80 before braking for the next gantry. They did it every time that I could see until I overtook them. Mental!

I'll agree with Beer Man on this point. I really dislike it when I hear people say things like "Why don't you send the report to myself and I will check it?"
You can send it to yourself and I can send it to myself but that's the only way it works.

I too have been flashed by the gantry camera anti clockwise near clacket lane, not doing much less than 90, about 3 months ago. nothing through the post.

For the 'average speed' cameras in the 50 mph limit roadworks I have set cruise control at 58mph and been ok.

rolleyes

Anyway back to the topic in hand, I've used the M25 daily for years and have never heard of anyone being caught speeding by the gantry cameras.

Many of them have markings on the road and no camera anyway and I guess if they did start dishing out fines they'd manage to ban half the population of the South East from driving within a few weeks.

The managed sections are a joke with the seemingly random numbers generated and displayed on the gantries and the vast majority of users don't stick to the limits defined by those displays unless the actual traffic flow forces them to.

I've seen many times odd 40mph or 50mph signs displayed on completely deserted sections at night. Never been ticketed for passing by these above the posted limit.

I think a bigger improvement in traffic flow could be gained by educating people to keep left and actually use the extra capacity built in rather than pulling straight out from the slip road and settling into a coma in lane 2,3 or 4.

Why the tin foil hat? confused

Tin foil hat accompanies posts with perceived paranoia.

The north section Hadecs (J27-23) flashed over 80 for a few months after the four lane widening went in. I got flashed once at about 85, no ticket. They seem to have calmed down now and I've sat on 80 with cars overtaking easily doing 90 and they haven't flashed. I cant figure them out so don't really do over the limit in that section. I do enjoy a bit of M25 Hadec schadenfreude though.

I regularly do the Heathrow-Gatwick stretch with the cruise on at a GPS-indicated 87, and have never once been flashed. Also passed beneath umpteen variable-speed gantries at 15-20mph over without troubling the cameras.

I was caught when they first put them up in 1996 between the M4 and M40, 3 points for driving at 72 just as they had changed to 60 harsh but fair.

When in variable mode, they don't seem to pick up bikes filtering in excess of the posted limit.

Perhaps the technology is foiled by having a car either side?

was just flashed not half an hour ago anticlockwise between 10 and 9... no reduced limits shown and no closed lanes, i was doing approx. 90 on a pretty empty stretch. First time ive ever seen any of these cameras flash, never been flashed anywhere else before in 8 years of driving, lit the whole road up like a battlefield. Guess its the 14 day waiting game now frown

I had the same thing some 18 months ago near J10 M25, and it sounds like I had the same shock as you.

If it helps, nothing further happened, so maybe you might be as lucky
