I went from a Polo 1.4 to a Clio 197 and it felt really fast. After you get used to it its not that fast though.

Having a 60bhp diesel Fiesta for a few days as a courtesy car going back to the Clio it felt like a rocket ship.

Strangely my 172 Cup never feels slow when I've just jumped out of my 996. Saying that, my OH's Mk1 Focus 2.0 doesn't feel particularly slow either, just encourages a more relaxed driving style.

I got a greater sensation of speed of speed from a 306 gti 6 than an E55 AMG (the 5.5 Kompressor) because the 306 felt more 'on edge' and the 306's engine really comes alive after 5000 rpm whereas the AMG had power all the way through. I think your expectations of how fast the car might be are an important factor as well..

At 19 I went from a 74hp 1.2 Corsa to a 240bhp Astra VXR. biggrin

Safe to say it felt much faster, but as you do, I sonn got used to the speed (well so I thought)

Crashed it 6 months later. Breaking 5 ribs, both bones in left arm and multiple facial fractures.

Lesson learnt. Go up in stages children.

I went from a Corza B 1.2 with approx 65bhp to an MG ZR 120 and despite the ZR weighing more, it felt a lot quicker.

As others have mentioned, how fast it will "feel" will always be determined by the quickest car you've driven.

After the GTR everything else feels slow to me but I'm slowly appreciating other aspects of driving.
