Re 190e, I've just joined PistonHeads. I've had a 2litre 190e for over nine years now- black, manual 5speed, MB Tex grey interior. It's a well made car though a bit scruffy here and there after 25 years! Last May, driving up from Falkirk to Aberdeen(and beyond!) it felt a bit funny, but couldn't see any thing so proceeded gingerly from Dundee. Closer inspection revealed the horror! The rear section of the rear subframe had split completely just to the right of the differential, hence the slightly odd feeling in the way it drove as the subframe now had some extra linkage, so to speak! I don't give in easy so propped the car on wood blocks and axle stands and dropped out the subframe. Both springs were busted inside the bottoms of the trailing arms and the upper spring mounts, whilst looking solid were not! So I set too and made new mounts, getting good access for welding by cutting holes in the forward part of the boot floor and sourced all new (excellent secondhand) arms and also decided to replace shabby backplates and rear hubs then went the whole hog and got driveshafts too! It cruised its MOT test(WHOO HOO!)and feels like new with a four wheel alignment. So another saved from the scrapper and a bit for the environment too.
