My current wreck only has a non-working fuel gauge.

I once owned a Mk 111 Mondeo that had more of it wrong than right.

My drivers side window doesn't shut automatically like it should. I have to finger blast the button in small movements otherwise it will come straight back down to the bottom of the door again.

Passenger exterior door handle doesn't work on my Golf. I'm not a passenger and I don't think it's an MOT issue so it can stay broken till the summer.

Have a very long light scratch right across my field of vision. It's less annoying than Fords microwire heated windscreens, but I've a feeling it's an MOT fail so will need to sort it.

Also had the LCD on my dash fail for two consecutive days a month ago. Been fine ever since so bottom of the list!

One of my cars has a stuck a/c expansion valve. I've had a new valve for months, in a box, waiting for me to do it. Local garages not interested as they can fill their diaries topping up screenwash etc instead.

Another car has had dead parking sensors since shortly after I got it. They'll probably remain dead. Curiously I did sort the sensors on the a/c expansion valve car though - but that made a long beep every time reverse was selected to inform me on the fault, so I fixed it.

Heater/ blower not working, perfect for this weather when the windscreen is misted.
It's a clam off fix, keep telling myself people lived like this in the old days.

'change gear light' has a mind of its own.

Paintwork bubbling on the doors (fibreglass).

Pretty sure it is a fail I'm afraid. Emergency services getting access and all that.

Oil level sensor in the sump on my 330i is going faulty and illuminates every few switch ons, check the level at least twice a week just to be sure.

You have to drop the oil to change it, which I just did, but the sensor is £90!

I lived with that for 5 years, I finally got a resistor pack fitted this year. I was out last weekend, roof off freezing as usual when it dawned on me that I had a heater. Bloody lovely, I should have got it fixed years ago.

L200 aircon stopped working, it still wasn't when I sold it 7 years later.

The drivers window on my E36 3 series hasn't worked since I bought it. I know what's wrong with it but I just can't be bothered to fix it.

Three months without a wing mirror glass so far. It's £500 for the glass only.

I keep booking work exams which cost slightly more than the mirror (two in last two months) to improve my career instead.

It's not illegal, but it looks really rubbish and cheap seeing as i drive a f10 M5 frown

Slight 'scar' on corner of rear bumper. I'm not going to get it fixed, even at mate's rate of £90, because I know that the next day, either I or someone else will mark it exactly the same wink

How on EARTH can a wing mirror glass possibly cost £500?

from another thread "Aren't BMW parts expensive?" "Oh, they're quite reasonable actually"

Yeah. Sure.

Yeah. Sure.
M-Tax.

Not that BMW are unique in this regard. The price of the Mazda MPS parts are eye watering, which brings me on to faults for the other car.

Mazda 6 MPS:

1) The brakes squeak at slow speed, on investigation the caliper brackets where the pads slide are a little bit worn and the noise is the pads moving slightly but unlike the standard 6 where replacement brackets are £20ea the MPS ones are unique to that car and are £150(+VAT) ea... I'd buy them if it wasn't that it'll do exactly the same again as they're a cheap design with the pads running on the brackets with no sliding/wear plates.
2) The light on the bottom of the drivers door flickers.
3) The boot release handle sticks and needs pushing back into place or the boot won't shut.
4) One of the exhaust trims in the bumper is loose.
5) One of the locking wheel nuts was replaced with a normal nut - but it's a rusty old one, keep meaning to get a new one but then that'll make the others look grubby so really should buy a full set.

Only had 3 speakers functioning in the fiesta for ages now (good few years). Its a back speaker that's gone so I don't really notice. Passengers can enjoy a bit of mono! Although front drivers has stopped working as of last week so things need sorting! hehe

bulb warning pings on most journeys but all the bulbs work, I'm not paying to get that fixed as I can't fix it!
Do it yourself - little bit of emery paper remove each bulb in turn and scuff the soft lead contact on the end - replace and enjoy bong/bing free motoring

I think it's because the contact gets a bit of corrosion in it leading to increased resistance and therefore the intermittent bing/bong bulb out warning when it isn't

Rear window packed up on my old Golf - solution was anyone sitting in the back dealt with the fact they couldn't open the window.

also the radio didn't work as the aerial was unplugged, but the thought of pulling the head unit out to plug it in just to listen to nick fking grimshaw put me off. Spotify or silence for 3 years! biggrin

one time during traffic near london bridge an idiot van driver filtered past and broke off my wing mirror. Propped it up using duct tape and no more nails for about a year when I got fed up (and out of duct tape) I decided to go to a breakers yard 5minutes away and get a new wing mirror for £10. biglaugh

More neglect on the wife's ancient school run Clio than on mine as hers does micro miles whereas as mine get used for weekends away fully loaded and so needs to be tip top.

I finally had the Clio's steering alignment done last week after about a year of oddness on full lock. It only does tiny distances and short trips but it did scrub off most of what was left on the fronts...... Also the front dampers have been shot for a long time (one of them started weeping last year) but have only just ordered new ones. Looking forward to driving it with all the new bits. Finally....

It's not so much cost - £200 all in - but the lack of time to go and get these things done.

Having said that I've bought three new bikes, built a fourth and have ordered the frame for a fifth in the same period of time.....

My clutch ideally needs changing. It dosnt slip, but it has a horrible action, almost the sort of feeling one gets with cable-operated clutch where the cable is dry and chaffing (my car has a hydraulic clutch).

I'll speak to someone tomorrow about getting it sorted out.

Also, the drives side headlight...the little clip that holds the bulb-holder in place is snapped on one side, so the bulb is a bit lop-sided.

The gearstick is a bit sloppy too, could need a tweak of the cables (that'll get done with the clutch change maybe, i dunno)
