Yes, more distinctive that its Audi, BMW and Mercedes rivals.

So?
I don't know why, but I assumed it was about buying a new car.

A car for people who want to make their Labradors car sick. hehe

Costs an awful lot. frown

beer

...I'm biased but I think the E61 in Sport guise looks very good these days. It looks quite svelte when you sit it inbetween an E39 and F11.

It's fast enough (it's only the 200bhp Sport), the ride is better than the saloon and the fuel economy is excellent, considering I drive it pretty much everywhere at either 0 or 90 miles an hour smile.

It's a company car, and in this spec (Black pack, Winter pack and Meridian sound)a little higher on company car tax than I would have liked but it was all that was available at the time, and they change it about every six months so I'm not that bothered.

Boot is still too small for the dog though.
So what is the fuel economy? Around town? On a run?

For me personally I find BMWs either look good when they're new and age terribly, or they look terrible when they're new then spend a few years looking ok once replaced by something that proved that things could get worse.

Other than the Z8 and maybe the drug-dealer shaped 7-series that was out at the same time as the E39, I can't think of any BMWs I've always liked.

It's annoying as I like the way they drive usually, but I always dislike the interior styling and the exterior love comes and goes. It would be like having a girlfriend with a great sense of humour but a face that only looks good in soft light.

RS6 for me. Just the right balance of aggressiveness without being too shouty about it.

Jag is nice as well but still has a faint whiff of old man about it.

Tis only a faint whiff though isn't it?

I mean, I hope I'm not old at 35yo but I can genuinely see the appeal so I think Jag are repositioning themselves quite well in that regard.

Have a 2014 black 3.0D Sportbrake, an absolutely brilliant estate, o/a 40+ mpg and is plenty nippy enough..Seems to be a much better ride than the XF saloon. I found the engine in the 2.2D a little lacking in refinement. Yes the 3.0S engine is available in the Sportbrake..

Cracking looking things, although I'm yet to see one with anything other than the terrible wheels they've afflicted the R-S with - or a lairy colour like this, or the burgundy colour which does it no favours either.

I'm a similar age to you and I own the saloon version.

Passengers who crack old man jokes can be quickly silenced by turning the dial to S and pressing the dynamic button hehe

I think the Volvo V60 is a good looking Estate. Certainly gives the sportbrake a run for it's money in the looks department.

My journey is country lanes / A3 / Town and vice versa - as per previous post I do tend to drive it "spiritidly" and it regularly returns mid/late 30's.

On a sensible run to Leicester the other week it was returning well into the 40's.

Nice, I think the CLS shooting brake is probably better looking though. Both though have compromised boots, so with 3 dogs the E Class estate sits on my drive.

Sport brake looks almost conventional compared to the CLS.

The CLS does look like it's been penned by 3 different people.

All of them blind.
