I've only driven on track a couple of times when it's been very wet and I don't mind admitting it, a car snapping sideways at speed in the rain is bloody terrifying.

As a result I've always loved watching drivers / riders who seem to thrive in these conditions.

So post up your favourite wet laps please.

Here's one of mine...

Patrick Depailler.

I also have a memory of a Ducati at possibly Donnington - think it was Bayliss riding but could be wrong - where the rider kept falling off and then remounting and then lapping seconds a lap faster than anyone else. So if you remember who and where and find a vid that would be splendid.

Great car control and looked like he was having fun.

I think the Ducati one you mention was Bayliss at Silverstone is WSB?

Depailler clip will be hard to beat and is one of my all time favourites.

Brack in the GT40 at the Revival is always entertaining;

Ayrton Senna at Donington in 1993. Possibly the best first lap ever?

And here's the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen in 1979. The race starts at about 2.56.

Watch Gilles.

He had been 9 seconds a lap faster than anyone else during one of the wet Friday practice sessions. He won the race by 48 seconds.

This is the one I was going to post. I'm sure I'd have lost the car about 652 times hehe

yikes

That looks undriveable!!

A real handful at all times. In the corners, on the straights, under braking, under acceleration, neutral, on line, off line.

And the best bit? Watch the driver in the mirror. So calm. V v v cool

Barrichello, in his third f1 race, went from 12th to 4th on that opening lap....
