Does anyone know how the poor sod (BMW) that tangled with the Radical at Copse is? Saw the Air ambulance frown

I thought it was the Radical driver that was the one who came off worse? (hence my earlier post enquiring as to his well-being)

Apologies to the chap in question but the Jota boys got a bit hands-on when someone decided to amble into the garage just as I was about to be released!

Yes, I understand the BMW driver is OK.

^^ Good news. It was a nasty hit on the outside of Copse. Tyre wall needs to continue further along.

This was my first Birkett having been to the last three or so to watch and soak up the atmosphere. I got a last-minute invite from Maxx and Rogue Motorsport after an earlier plan to race in a SEAT Cup car fell through. I'd never even sat in my car before Friday, when I helped get the cars off the transporter in pouring rain, so qualifying in the wet on Saturday was, er, entertaining! We had a few problems with one of our cars in the race and I got hit from behind so we didn't finish particularly well, but it was an education!

As per story this happened in front of one of my Jota teammates and he said it was a very nasty impact. Glad the BMW driver apparently OK but again as per story it turns out the Radical driver is in a bad way - it'd seem he's a friend/neighbour of my father-in-law indeed and his condition sounds pretty serious. According to James who was in the Jota car when it happened he was in the car and being attended to in situ for a long time after the accident, which is never a good sign and explains why the safety car was out for so long too.

I'll reiterate the point in the story but thoughts with his family.

Cheers,

Dan

Gloriously mad. Still have no idea what it's all about.

ETA Watching the Smart emerge from the pits in that video was glorious random. smile

We were helping out the Run By Birds team in the garage next to yours (3 Locosts and a Golf). We were wondering who's MX5 had been plundered for parts.

I hope the driver of the Radical is getting better. Does anybody have any news?

I was hooning round in this M3, it didn't miss a beat all day despite being driven hard for nearly an hour and a quarter on one stint. Garage 3C

Thats the one. I was in 3a most of the day with the classic 3 series, 944, Caterham and VW touring car.

Thought you peddled that very well indeed and was shocked to see the novice sticker on the tail! The video footage is impressive too.

Cheers, just finished my first season of racing. I've chalked up 6 signatures on my license the race before the Birkett, but decided to err on the side of caution and keep the sticker on given the vast array of different cars out there.
