Morning,

A question for you.

With my flat, I have a designated car parking space. As does one of my neighbors, though i cant figure out which flat they live in, who has the spot next to mine. I have two pillars on one side of my space, and my car is next to my neighbors (parallel) on the other side.
The same with my neighbor, pillars on the other side, and then next to me. The pillars are such that i can easily open my drivers and rear right door, as they open into the gap of the pillars.

My problem lies with the fact that my neighbor likes to leave the size of the grand canyon between the pillars on his/her side and park right ON the dividing line (so that their side mirror is over the dividing line and onto my side). I know for a fact it is not possible for them to open their drivers car door without making contact with my car....which literally makes me shake with rage. Couple this with the fact that i have had my brand new a45 amg for less than a month and i have calmly observed them do this for the entire time period month (apart from once when funnily enough i was in the car cleaning the mats)...i fear i will lose my temper due to the complete disrespect and lack of courtesy i am being shown.

Today i took the first step of leaving a very politely worded note on their car, asking them if they could please park more towards their side to prevent damage to both cars. The note was removed in the morning, but the car was still parked in the same stupid position.

Any advice guys?? - i feel as though the last place my car should get damaged is my own secure parking space....!!

Just park yours in a a similar fashion when the opportunity presents itself? Might illustrate the problem a bit more clearly?

Best to speak with your neighbour & try & reach an amicable resolution.
If you fall out with them & you own the flat you will have to declare the dispute on the Seller’s Property Information Form when you sell the flat.

Figure out which flat they live in and have a word with them, shouldn't be too difficult.

I have similar woes.
The resident who now parks next to me has just moved in. I take pride in my car - it's always clean, has no nicks or dings and I'm very wary where I park when I leave it anywhere.

Anyway, when I went out the other night I walked past my car and noticed a 14 plate Mini D parked about 6" away from my drivers side - it would have been impossible for me to get in had I needed to. Considering the Mini is probably about 6 months old, there was a huge scrape down the drivers side, the front bumper was stuck on with duct tape and the passenger wing mirror was hanging off.

I suspect my ding free car won't be ding free much longer!

Has there been any damage? If not they may be climbing in to the passenger seat to get out to keep their car safe on the other side. If there is damage then you know who did it.

I did try to find out who's space the car belonged to - about 70 flats in our development, I even resorted knocking on random doors to try and find em but didnt work so gave up after about 5 doors and left a note.

Kills me that people take no pride in their cars - especially re the 14 plate mini d!

If you don't know which flat they live in, you'll have to wait until you see them parking the car and then it should just be a quick 'excuse me mate, could you leave me a bit more room to park?'.
