Did I misunderstand the news this morning or are Marussia also now in administration? I only caught a bit of it but I swear I heard only 18 cars on the grid of the next GP.
That's what I've heard too, was on BBC News website yesterday. I reckoned this was only a matter of time as soon as I heard they were only fielding one car at Sochi. I have a feeling that the second car which stayed in the garage was missing parts and/or contained numerous bodged repairs, leaving it in a non-functioning or unsafe condition...

Yes Marussia are in administration.

To be honest, since Marussia bought the team its been stillborn.
The original idea was the owner was going to start a super car company, Marussia Motors. The F1 team was purchased, presumably as PR for the supercars.
For whatever reason he then decided that the supercar thing was a bad idea and shelved it.
Marussia F1 ownership was transferred to a shelf company called Marussia Communications. It is registered in Ireland and seemingly does little, no website, very little information about it.

The owner continues to fund the team out of his own pocket. There is no real investment, its just kept ticking over, no-one was out looking for sponsors, no money to really start pushing the team up the grid. As far as I can find out, the guy never went to races, never gave an interview, no plans for the future etc.

He's got bored paying the bills (fair enough) and has cut the funding, bye bye team.

Ultimately the team was never going to survive without more money coming in (sponsors) or a huge amount of investment to push them up the grid to a place where they became more attractive/earn more prize money. When it comes down to it, he isn't the sort of owner we need in F1.

There is a good article by Will Buxton thats worth a read: http://willthef1journo.wordpress.com/2014/10/26/no...

You could see it coming the other week when their F3 team pulled out of racing. Such a shame.
