Cheap insnurance?

Coming close to passing my test and I'm really into cars and will most likely buy my own, been saving for a year and have enough to buy a MK6 Ford Fiesta Zetec S. Your all probably thinking 18 year old on a 1.6 will cost a fortune to insure, I expected the same until i priced up insurance which surprised me, the cheapest was £980 which is pretty good considering the size of the engine for a first year driver as the main driver. Why is this car so cheap to insure it has a sporty look to it with a fairly powerful engine, seems odd. I double checked every detail ( I did also put it that i had passed my test 1 month ago just to get a fair quote).
