Didn't cars on eBay used to be exempt from the "legally binding" thing?

I thought it used to be that auctions for cars meant bids were actually just an invite to trade or something - the last few cars I've sold I've treated the winning bid as a viewing more than a "YOU MUST BUY IT" scenario.

Looking at their T+C's it seems that now it's only classified motors on eBay where that exemption exists.

Or am I dreaming?

As far as I know as long as it's correctly described you are expected to buy it, however if it hasn't been correctly described and stuff has been covered up you can walk away because that makes perfect sense.

No never, people got confused with classified auctions and the USA rules, and they it became truth on the net, when it was always wrong.
