We all know the...

...and...

...threads well. I've contributed and been a feature of both on several occasions but to my knowledge there hasn't been a successful Anti-Knob thread.

The knob threads are a foundation part of this forum. It gives people an opportunity to vent, highlights issues and from an outside observers point of view justify some of Darwin's theories.

With so much negativity in the world with the internet as a focal point I feel it's time for good deeds on the road to be recognised as well.

Little things we all do but remember that pillock who cut us up on the roundabout instead.

For example; yesterday before I left work I turned the radio on to a local station and found out there had been a collision on the main part of my route. The road was closed so I needed to take a slightly longer diversion. As the road had been closed for two hours already I grabbed a few of cans of Coke so when I reached the traffic control point I got out, gave the officers a drink and carried on home.

The little things that we do or we see other people do that just makes driving in the UK less like running a gauntlet.

I started a thread like this a year or two ago and it died a death.

I will nominate the man with the tattos in the A6 with aftermarket HIDs (doesn't sound promising, does it) who I encounter on a daily basis on my single track lane to work. He is by far the keenest driver to give way I've ever encountered.

I'm always doing good deeds on the road.

I'm forever telling people about their dodgy indicators.

I think they must be so stunned by my kind heartedness that having been hailed and encouraged to wind down their window they just sit there looking all baffled when I tell them their "indicators are faulty and don't seem to be operating, perhaps a bulb or something??"

Was driving behind a car the other day and their full filler flap was open which is a common occurrence, their fuel filler cap dangling out of the car isn't. Gave them a beep and a flash and managed to get them to stop, hopped out and told them and they were grateful.

Hmm, so the officers had been there for ages already before you gave them a large can of fizzy drink. That is actually amazingly thoughtful and kind - but I bet they ended up busting for a piss 10 mins later with absolutely nowhere to go! bounce

Am i the only one who find's the story about the coke a bit weird

I know some kind people will do things like that say if there is some sort of incident on their door step, my gf works for SGN and when they've got a lot of people out dealing with a gas incident people sometimes do that sort of thing, sometimes people will even order a whole stack of pizzas.

But when i hear of a delay on the radio it's never crossed my mind to take drinks for anyone

No! I find it odd as well.

The OP taking it upon himself to give a copper a can of fizzy pop is hardly the tide turning on Britain's combative driving.

Yeah, fcensoredk you and your minor good deeds, OP! Come back when you've singlehandedly driven all of the unpleasant people of the UK into the sea! Including me, you tcensoredt!

Its sometimes hard to weave your way between the meant and the jest on these threads but in the spirit the OP intended, a chap's new Citroen DS3 bnroke down outside our house in the heat of the summer so I nipped out with a cup of tea and a biscuit for the poor fellow.

Mechanical failures were more common in my improverished youth but I still remember the mind numbing boredom of waiting for the fourth emergency service to attend

Driving through the village I live in a few weeks back the car in front of me managed to completely destroy the door mirror of a parked car.

On my way home that evening I knocked on the owner of the hit cars front door and gave my details. Haven't heard anything yet but I'd hope that someone would do the same thing for me if someone ever knocked off one of my mirrors.

There was some flooding last friday - the rain didn't even seem that bad!

Anyway, I was impressed at how well everyone behaved towards each other. People had to merge into one lane because the others were so flooded, and everybody just got on with it. No arguing or barging in, just courteous driving all round.

If only that happened when the roads are dry biggrin

A bloke in a Freelander stopped to check I was okay when I blew up my Cosworth transmission ,in the

depth of winter.

I was standing in a little snow hole beside the A30 in Devon.

I tried telling somebody that they'd left their petrol cap open the other day. They both looked at me like I'd just stabbed their daughter.
