They're designed to be pointlessly aggressive-looking with all the stupid vents and creases and bulges, and they offer exactly nothing but a higher seat over a 5 Series Touring.

At least a Range Rover Sport has a fighting chance of being able to drive through a field - the X5 and its ilk are like enormous bling divers' watches you can't wear in the shower.

I hope they make the new one sound better. I had a test drive of the X5M when it came out and was very disappointed by the noise. Far too quiet and didn't really sound like a V8. Mercedes AMG have made their twin turbo V8s sound much better.

I'd have an X6M in a heart beat, nice size, good road position, nice and quick. Price tag seems a little steep, but most will no doubt be on lease for circa £5-600mth so not too bad really

I don't car if its a Chelsea tractor, at least it has some real road presence and at least the marmite styling makes it memorable, unlike the bland Range Rover/RR-S's
5-600 per month, really? Try north of a grand. The depreciation on these is titanic

I'm not offended by either of them, but I do think the X6 is truly hideous. Ssangyong Rodius hideous.

I never understand why people are so offended by cars like this. I have a 2004 X5 4.8iS, the then version of what these are now. Yes it's expensive, it's thirsty, and a full set of tyres is £1200, but it's a truly awesome car to own and drive. I thought the fact we were all on here is because we love cars, so why can't we love these? Maybe you've not had the privilege of driving one because if you did you wouldn't be saying these things!
Well said that man!!

I also wonder about comments made on hear, are you really on the right website, should you not be on "ecoboringlightweightfantastic.com"
comments about "too heavy" "too thirsty" im sure the majority of people who buy petrol 4x4s have other toys in the cupboard and have a fuel card
Take a look around any circuit paddock they are awash with Cayenne turbos, ML63, etc

Yes we all know a 520d touring can carry as much and will be far more economical, but you cant see over drystone walls and you will probably fall asleep at the wheel & crash because you dont need to stop and refuel, then where will you be.........................................dead probably!!

Try towing ye GT3 race car with ye stripped out Saxo banghead

(general rant not intended at anyone in particular)

YOLO !!

Because a FFRR does it with so much more class.

these 'things' are for people with absolutely zero class or style. And how on earth is driving one of these monstrosities a 'privilege' ?????? Unless you want to look like a drug dealer or a prick.

The X6 was one of those cars that I thought was pretty ugly when it first came out. After a few years I have to say that it hurts my eyes even more than it did. I'm sure it's very good at what it does but if it was on a dating site, it would be described as "bubbly personality" rather than "attractive"

build type would be 'a few extra pounds'. Which basically means, grossly obese

No, you're right. I don't.

at least the dealers driving round in RRs have some class though. Probably only sell overpriced coke to the 'other' type of X5 owner. "Well it must be good because it's expensive"

Well after some thought the X6 doesn't look tooo bad, well not when compared to the last one anyway. Still fail to see the point in the car though, the whole body-style just does not make any sense to me...

The X5M though, oooft now that's a car I would not mind having boxedin it may not hold the class of a Range Rover but in the real world they're both as usable/pointless as each other, depending on which way you look at it. However I do hope this new makes some noise at least!
And a 0-60mph time nearly as low as the first gen Gallardo wobble

Would you care to enlighten us, each to there own and all that but whats not to like about monstorously powerful suv/4x4s that will cater for kids/bikes/dogs/tip trips etc

One days these petrol v8s etc will not be around, enjoy them whilst we can!!
-End of quote-

Well, firstly this is only my opinion and not one that I am forcing anyone to take.

I don't like 4x4's that are not built to be 4x4's i.e. this is not a Land Rover defender or a Mercedes G-Wagon.

I don't see the point in having a higher ride height and then making the car handle almost as well as a road car.

Why would I buy this over a E63 Wagon / M5 Touring for instance? Similar space and they will never go off road.

All in my opinion - I hate (seems a strong word) all BMW off road vehicles. To me, BMW is about the 'Ultimate Driving Machine'. M3/M5/M6/M1/2002 and so on.

There is no reason you can't like it, this is just my opinion.
