Plus I'd put money down they're both quicker.

I found it surprising that the Porsche beat the Mac around the Autocar circuit by a second over a short lap, it really is an amazing feat of engineering...however it may be that in the hands of professional racing drivers, the Mac closes the gap, I suspect it takes more skill to eek out a lap time from the Mac than the 4 x 4 Porsche. Anyway, any of these cars would be wonderful to own.

I'm an owner have spent hours with wallliser and the development team over two years . Originally I was unconvinced until I drove one . I drove one it blew me away . I have spent hours in friends p1 side by side with his Veyron supersport on closed off roads and I called it from day 1 the 918 would be faster on the road and probably on most tracks ( as proven by tg mag , evo and now autocar ).
Sounds like there are a few people on here who'd be happy to take your money off your hands Mr American... Edited by wtdoom on Thursday 30th October 16:51

Too gear mag, autocar and evo . don't get me wrong p1 great car , very nearly bought one .
Just needs renaming to p3
My spidey sense tells me that over the long term the P1 is going to be the best investment. The owner community are more active both on forums and on the track, because of this you can feel the goodwill rising and future potential owners are riding that curve.
Ferrari have done themselves no favours by banning any comparison tests with the LF against the opposition, going so far as to threaten owners being struck off the Xmas card list if they lend their cars to the media for such a test. It appears Ferrari are less confident in their products ability
The 918, great car as it is going to be hampered by the fact they have built too many, plus it just does not have as much kerb appeal as the other two.
I have way of measuring how well a car is designed and that is in how many colours does it look good. The P1 wins this test by a mile, countless colour combinations have been produced so far and I can only think of one where the colour was to the detriment of the car.
The LF seems to come in a very limited palette, no surprise there as most Ferrari owners have a hard time seeing past Red and the 918 in my opinion again only looks decent in a couple of colours

Or looked at another way - if you had purchased one of these as "an investment" - then aside from the fact you're a mentalist for not driving such an incredible machine, the P1 offers roughly a 38% return on investment, the FerrariTheFerrari 65% ROI and the Porsche 14%.
If I ever win a Euromillions jackpot, I'd take the P1 over the 2. The Ferrari is a bit overwrought to look at and has a deeply onanistic name, and the Porsche just leaves me feeling "meh".
I had the pleasure of being on the same track day as a P1 a couple of weeks ago at Donington. Hats off to the owner for bringing it out to play. There was an incredible sensation of the speed it's cable each time it overtook me. I fear I'll not see an LaF on a normal trackday but am sure I'll get to see a 918 out on one soon. And odds on it'll be Mr Wtdoom driving it If I ever win a Euromillions jackpot, I'd take the P1 over the 2. I've got to do a few laps at least just to see what it can do ...Purely for safety reasons of course

Numbers alone means that the 918 will over time be relatively weak compared to the other 2. Even the CGT, utterly fabulous car that it is took a reasonably hard dive in values in the years after launch and certainly in comparison to the enzo which IMO is not half the car the CGT is.
Would personally still rather have the 918 over the rest though if money were no object. From an engineering/build standpoint, the higher production run means that there is going to a considerably greater budget allocated to R&D and such for car that can be amortised over a higher number of units, especially since the 918 was built as a tech showcase as well so one would likely be getting more 'bang for the buck'. The 918 though probably isn't going to be as fun a car to drive as the laferrari or P1 being ~200kg ish heavier and 4wd one suspects...

McLaren P1: 916bhp, 719lb ft of torque
The torque figure is incorrect. It's 664 lbft. 719 Nm (531 lbft) is produced by the ICE. Pistonheads said:
LaFerrari: 950hp, 664lb ft, 217mph and a sub-three 0-62.
Again, and incorrect figure here. The McLaren has been valued in metric horsepower (903 imperial horsepower). The Ferrari's maximum power has been quoted in imperial horsepower (963 metric horsepower). The torque produced by the Ferrari is >664 lbft, and the top speed is >217 mph.An easy Google search is all it takes to find this. You're welcome.

I think on balance I'd rather have a hot caterham than a hypercar.
I don't think the things they do (driving at over 200mph, say) would be all that enjoyable to me.
Probably not a majority opinion around here, granted..
Think you might be onto something, certainly from my perspective. Loved what James Glickenhaus said on the Petrolicious video that if he wasn't comprehensively minted then he would just be looking to have fun in what he could afford. More bucks does not necessarily equal more fun. I also have a suspicion that a year after acquiring one of these three I would only be allowed to drive it on a track! I don't think the things they do (driving at over 200mph, say) would be all that enjoyable to me.

IThere are no discounts on 918 . Utter bs .
What clown wrote this article ?
It reads like you can get a discount on a 918 when in fact there's a buyer whose had a change of circumstances trying to get out of paying for the rest of the car before he's asked to cough up the remainder of the bill . Terrible reporting
Agree. How can a professional base an article on such poor research? What clown wrote this article ?

One car is a standard build slot, with 150k deposit already in it, and selling for 750k+Tax, so a premium of around 20% to a base order with no deposit already paid.
The other one is also net of 20% tax, and is therefore at a similar premium.
A standard UK car does not cost £732k on the road, it's low 600s at today's rates.
A weissach card does not cost £799k new, more like mid 600s
None of the 'facts' in this are accurate.
