What is it that motivates people to order/buy a white car?

Is it to appear 'fashionable'? As in 'cool'? 'On-trend'?
Is it to be a bit...different?
Less washing?
Higher resale value?

Surely all the above are myths?

It won't be for less washing - silver is for that.

It's because it's a bit in fashion at the moment and it genuinely compliments some cars. Not all though.

Its also almost always a no additional cost colour.
Just happens to suit most cars.

Kia Soul and Toyota IQ look absolutely brilliant in white with tinted windows!

The IQ looks like a stormtrooper's helmet actually!

Otherwise, I'd say white is a colour people choose because it's a pretty decent colour, and they can't be bothered flicking through the various shades of grey to select a suitable one for their premium German badged VAG product.

...Because they like white?

Sorry is it a trick question? Are you implying that white is somehow an inferior colour that needs a reason to be chosen?

That's not the case at all.

Many manufacturers charge extra for white, especially the pearlescent ones.

Also manufacturers often have more than one white.

When I got mine the only free colours were black or white. The dealership advised that should I prefer black it'd be better to go for he metallic one which cost about £300 extra, so I went with white.

Cheaper to buy.

A lot of white paints are solid so are free of charge.

Now that I've got one, I think it looks nice and the white body contrasts against the black exterior bits well.

It's because iphones are white. Some aren't now, but I expect when told to picture an iphone most people will picture a white one.

I just like the look of them, no idea why though. Last 2 have been White.

(Saying that, the missus associates every Red car as motability, as that is what her dear old Dad had)

Haven't had a white car for ages as I don't get company cars any more and I don't buy new - there aren't enough second hand ones about at an age I can afford after they fell so badly out of fashion, but my personal reason for getting white (if I can) is simply that it's a colour I like.

My car is white, my other car is black. The retro monochrome look. The white one looks a nice sepia when dirty, which is even more hipstersmile

My girlfriend's car is white. She chose it because she thinks it looks nice. Don't be such a colour nazi.
