Infrastructure spend in and around Manchester has suffered for years now. The price of the new tram line is fairly irrelevant really. Ask anyone who lives on or near a line and they'll tell you how good it is to have.

London spend considerably higher amounts on travel and infrastructure and it's about time we had some heavy investment. The rail network will hopefully transform once the Norther Rail Hub is complete. The network franchises just need to sort out the frequency and reliability of the trains now.
