I really hope it sounds like that in real life. Want.
I wasn't keen on this car, the only exciting thing about it was the claims to be the fastest FWD car around the Nurburgring. But the sound I very much doubt it, but I really hope that's a genuine sound. Its good enough to make me want one when previously I felt completely indifferent.SidewaysSi said:

Have Honda even confirmed prices yet? If it's anything over 25k (which it will be) then there's a multitude of cars to choose from!
Ok. So this CTR is going to have five doors, a huge boot and 300bhp. Let's assume it costs £30k. You said it was boring. What NEW car is so much more exciting than this Civic that it isn't classed as boring? WRX Sti for 29k........
I know which I would prefer!

The Subaru is a car I would love to love but it has not received glowing, 5 star reviews thus far. Well, none that I know of.

Still £1200 will get the Sti up to 350hp which is more than enough for a road car!

I have read and viewed some good reviews but usually from the longer term tests. Short term test seem to suggest its down on power or at least hasnt had a power increase in a while. Longer term test suggest the handling etc is leaps and bounds ahead of anything that has gone in the past and thats where the new car hits gold. Its a shame they havnt moved forward in terms of power because the civic is near on par now in terms of horse power when back in the 90's the impreza was at about 280hp and the civic was maybe 160-170ish. It doesnt show progress.
Still £1200 will get the Sti up to 350hp which is more than enough for a road car!
The fast progress that the 'Type R' and other turbo hot hatches made compared to the WRX/Sti is due to every hot hatch now using a turbo petrol engine. Subaru, Volvo and Saab all used turbo petrol engines in the nineties before it was common and then arguably started to lose that advantage from about 1999. Cars like the Audi S3, that arrived a few years before the 'bug-eye' Impreza WRX, were the writing on the wall. As even Honda are producing turbo engines now Subaru have completely lost their power advantage.Still £1200 will get the Sti up to 350hp which is more than enough for a road car!

I think this is the last generation of Honda cars that won't use turbo petrol engines. The Civic Type R is 'preparing' Honda and their customers in the same way the 1M Coupe 'prepared' BMW and their customers for the change over.
What a bloody fantastic advert! Hats off to the media team that created it. Almost as good as the Cog Advert. However, I hear by place £100 bet against the car not sounding anything like that. The high rev exhaust did sound a bit "boy racer" and also my acute hearing sensed a SADEV racing transmission and their's no way in hell it'll come with one of them as standard. I hear by await to be proven wrong. LOL. Absolutely love the tail lights and general styling. Not a fan of the HUGE wheels though.

I had a new Blobeye STI back in the day. Hated it with a passion and got rid after 9 months because it was too competent. Shortly before I sold it I tried thrashing it as far as my limited skill would allow and very nearly ended up in a field. Having said that the more nimble new WRXSTI really does appeal and having sat in one I can say the interior is miles better. However, £500 road tax and a 250 mile range will just hack me off. If only it had a less thirsty, cleaner engine....

I know what you mean by "too competent"but having done the rear wheel drive thing in the form of an MR2 and been on the wrong side of a hedge, the planted power of the Impreza suits me very well. Maybe im getting old...I do miss the MR2 simply for fun but christ it could be scary at times!
I still dont think the Civic will be any more interesting to drive than an Sti in that respect though.

I'd guess the tail lights are staying or will approach those of the concept (since they're showing them off a little too much to ditch them now?) but the huge wheels won't make production. Or at least, only as an expensive optional extra.
Fantastic attention to detail in that video, and not just the car stuff. I had to watch it several times to double check things, and I'm sure there will be things I haven't spotted.
Dear Honda: Please deliver. It would hurt a lot if this turns out to be all PR and bodykit with no decent car underneath.
