As I was reversing into a bay at morrisons today, the guy behind me drives into the bay next to mine while I'm still manouvring to even myself up - that should have been my first warning.

He opens his door straight away so I sit waiting for him to finish up fishing around inside for something then thud he's bumped his door into mine. I put the window down and asked him to close his door to inspect it, he acted like I was barking and told me there was no damage. When I pointed out the paint on my car he then tried rubbing it off with a wet finger and insisted it was fine - despite there still being paint.

I know it's not the biggest mark, and hopefully will polish out, not that I have any polish so I'd have to buy some. But to me he should accept responsibility and at least apologise for damaging my property?

Some people are s and have no respect for other peoples property. Most people look upon cars as 'just a car innit', white goods if you like.

Tar and glue remover would have a better chance of removing that.

He should have apologised (well, he SHOULD have been more careful), but it's a tiny, tiny dab of paint which will come off with 2 minutes work.

I think you're just the right amount of pissed off and with the correct element of the thing too. Good work.

Simon.

Thinking on it I have a clay mitt that would probably do the trick. I washed the bloody car yesterday though!

I had a similar thing last year where a lady knocked my car with her door - she was very apologetic however, and luckily there was no mark.

Years ago when I was about 12, I was sat in my dad's Impreza while he popped into B&Q to return something and a trolley came flying into the car and left a scuff on the bumper! I got out of the car and person responsible just drove off as quickly as possible! Thankfully, the plastic mark was just the bumper on the trolley and it came straight off.

Should have kicked him in the jaw and pointed out it'll be fine while rubbing a wet finger over the wound.

Would it be bad to have the first thoughts of giving their door a boot and find somewhere else to park?

Some days it makes sense for me wanting an old Landie in London so when someone does this I can return the favour with me kicking open the door and caving theirs in and saying there is no damage done... At least to the land there won't be.

I had a guy in a landrover reverse into the front of my car in a carpark. I got out tapped on his window to let him know. He protested as he had a reversing camera and parking sensors.

Got out walked to the back and could see that he had reverse into me. Didnt even apologise, just went "oh". Luckily no damage other than bending my number plate which I had to get replaced.

Some people are tw@ts.

That does look as though it should polish out though.

Someone dinged my daughters car in similar circumstances .
She is pretty feisty and gave them the choice of either paying for a 'smart repair' or go through their insurance!
They reluctantly paid £120 for chipsaway repair..

Wouldn't worry about it mate. He'll do the same to some nutcase who doesn't think twice about GBH, then he'll learn not to do it again.

You're probably right. I must admit when security said there was no CCTV covering the bays I did have some daft thoughts for a second. I'd just been to the gym too so was extra pumped up laugh

A few years ago my wife was waiting in her car waiting for me to leave work. A car parked next to her and a woman opened the door onto my wife’s car door, ‘thud’ not once ‘thud’, or twice, ‘thud’,’thud’ after the fourth time my wife, who by now is thoroughly p1ssed off winds down the window,

‘do you mind not banging your door onto my car!’

The reply from the woman

‘Oh, sorry, I didn’t know you were in there!’.

What!

My fking neighbour did something very similar whilst I was out front trimming a tree.

Reverses carelessly into my car such that I can here the flex of plastic, my number plate bore the brunt but I was bloody livid.

He just stood their muttering so I confess I lost it and roared a bit; "DON'T USE MY CAR AS A PARKING AID, USE YOUR EYES!!!"

To be fair he offered to "Do something about it?" but in reality the hassle and inconvenience is what fks me off, I've just had it back from the body shop after being rear ended.

Of course, if he wasn't such a prick he would have popped over later with a bottle of wine or something, did he?? Did he fk.

The only way to deal with these knobs is to teach them a lesson...and I don't mean a minor inconvenience. - The authorities don't care about parking damage etc. and so these cretins know that in the majority of cases, they'll get away with it.

I can't wait until I've got some chunky rock sliders fitted to my Discovery. smokin

After a recent experience with someone hitting my car when I wasn't even in it and wanting to resolve it without involving insurers I'd now exchange details and hand it over to the company.

My good deed and effort to be understanding left me making multiple phone calls, texts and visits to a dealer.

The guy had to buy a new grille but seemed surprised a dealer wouldn't fit it for free.

Teach that knob a lesson I'd say.

Just leave them a little a4 sized note on there window, politly asking them to not bang your door again. Obviously this note is on with pritstick and will be a right pain to get off, leaving messy pritstick all over which is another pain to get off. It'll teach them a lesson though.
