Hi all,

Going to look at a cheap winter hack motorcycle on Sunday being sold by a PHer - i'm positive all is fine with it and the seller, but I just want to be doubly sure.

Was wondering if anyone with access to HPI checking at work or whatnot could run a check for me. The bike is only £650, and I really can't afford to do a £15-20 HPI check on top of the purchase price and fuel costs to collect it. I don't trust the text-check services and the like really. I'm sure i've seen people on here offer to run checks for people before.

Any assistance would be hugely appreciated, else I think i'll just go for it based on the fact that its old, cheap and the seller seems very good.

Registration is N610 FLC.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Stop being an unhelpful knob. PH used to have a very knowledgeable and helpful community, and dealers with easy access to hpi through their business were happy to help long-term members with the occasional free check.

You never know, some off them might still be around despite users such as yourself.

I, like everyone else pay for things myself. 6months ago I forked out the £20 or so for a HPI check.

Perhaps we should all club together and pay for the actual bike aswell?

Sod that, lets all pay his fuel bills aswell!

To be honest you'll have noticed many of us have stopped helping out on the fora as much as we did, too many knobheads wanting to take a pop I am afraid.

Sadly I have noticed the change - you often had many helpful contributions in dealer threads in particular. The site demographic has certainly changed and grown, so these things were perhaps unavoidable.

Kudos to pixelpeep for their time though thumbup

Thank you very much - thats fantastic. As expected, nothing to worry about with it being written off in the past. I don't need to worry about outstanding finance I don't think, so we're good to go!

It's got 2,900 miles on it, so it's over 138,000 miles under-mileage hehe

Wow - as expected...

No I can't afford to add another £20 to the purchase price actually.

Secondly, I'm not asking anyone to pay for the check for me, just asking if anyone has access to HPI checking at work or the like, and is prepared to run one for me - as said - else I was thinking I might just buy the vehicle without doing a HPI check for the first time.

Thanks for your constructive input - now kindly fk off.

I was trying to use My Car Check to do a £5 one, but was having issues with the payment section of the website. The £3 text check 83600 company website was a bit amatuer so I avoided that one. I've only ever used RAC before, on more valuable vehicles.

Fantastic! All tallies up with what the seller has said, and no outstanding finance as I expected.

Pixelpeep7r, and Snollygoster, thanks for your help - you're legends beer

Looking forward to having a practical workhorse finally - just two days to wait now, £80 to add to my insurance policy, tax to buy, my mates car to fuel, and the bike to fuel for the return leg. Had a fair bit of budget creep in the end, but with only 2900 miles on it i'm hoping it's worth the trip smile

Police - Sorry son, it's a nicked bike.

OP - But it was HPI clear

Police - How do you know that?

OP - Pixelpeep7r and Snollygoster on the internet said so.

Police - Who are they?

OP - Don't know.

Good luck anyway and well done the above for helping him out; not the route I'd take but hey ho.

I see your point, but I was prepared to go into it without a check anyway, since I have no reason to believe that anything is dody with the seller, or the bike, so the checks kindly provided are good enough for me, especially since they tally up with what the seller has said.

I really just wanted to know that it hadn't been written off previously smile

I have absolutely no reason to believe it would be stolen - seller is very respectable indeed.

I was being nice; it was good advice.

It was a nice way to say don't be so cheap, do it yourself, cover yourself.

Screenshot, photoshop, who knows. Trust no one!!!

You quoted me before my edit was completed too :-)
