Hi,

I bought a car a while back but the registration plate isn't recognised either on DVLA's Vehicle Enquiry bit or when I use any other reg-checking service (EuroCarParts, Halfords, Insurance Websites etc.) - I tried ringing DVLA a few weeks ago but had the world's least helpful man handle my call who may as well have told me to sod off and hang up. Was going to try again this morning with the luck I get somebody helpful who's interested in my query but all their lines are busy.

Since I can't get hold of them I'll ask here. Is this something that can be rectified? Can I send the V5 to DVLA and get them to update it on their database or something, or has anyone else got this issue? The V5 is full of various details about the car but DVLA only seem to have the very basic info on the database.. not enough for other services to recognise it, and it's getting tedious having to go through every single option over the phone/website forms now.. smile

Cheers.

Sounds a bit odd - reg plate change in the past not completed properly?

Look on the bright side, you can ignore all those pesky cameras.

DVLA lines STILL busy, what the hell's going on today haha. Ooh that's a good thought, it could've been a reg plate change.. bloody typical of it not being done properly though. If that was the case it would've been before 2008 though (which is when the previous owner bought it and they had the 'normal' reg at that point) So far the only system that has found anything is EuroCarParts but theirs simply says:
Ford ( 2001)
N/A NaN

The system my local garage uses comes back with "Ford Mondeo 2001 TDi" but depsite finding TDi it doesn't pre-populate that it's a Diesel.. Strange doings!

Haha, those bloody cameras indeed. I've foiled them at long last!

P.S. yes it's a Ford Mondeo and I am aware I'm on PistonHeads. Please don't torture me..

Umm, if you think that DVLA don't have the full info on their database, where do you think the info on the V5C is coming from...?

AFAICT, you appear to be complaining that third-party services don't query DVLA correctly, right?
