What do people think when they see BMW E30 going sideways ?

Seems to be something to do with 80s Volvos. My mums old 340 Volvo would go sideways at the slightest provocation, with its massive 80hp when it started (and probably much much less 12 years later when I drove it). Damp roundabout, tiny bit of power on mid corner, or anything else. It is no wonder it is so popular as a cheap drift car.
My mum somehow didn't crash on an icy S bend in her 360, she said she turned the radio off and said "don't brake" about 100 times as she went around the corners sideways.I saw an M135i get a bit sideways out of a mini roundabout and apart from "who's he showing off to?" I thought "that took balls, that gap is narrow!". Can't say I ever thought of that particular mini roundabout as a source of adrenaline...
I thought the standard was "if someone can see you, it's probably a bad idea to be putting the car in an unstable situation". Yes you're a driving god and can probably control it, but other people don't know that (and maybe you aren't), so in general it's superfluous risk.
That said, the only times I've seen someone else sideways it's been a low speed junction exit. They look like a prat, mainly because it involves little skill: apply throttle, remove throttle, car practically stops pointing in not quite the right direction to make forward progress, having taken more time to make the turn than miss daisy. No danger though.

In fairness to the chap who's posted the pics above, at least he wasn't on the street.
I was at Lydden Hill a few months ago and they had a "drift" session. I can't say I'm a fan really. Why anyone would take a piece of precision engineering and weld a chunk of scrap into it, baffles me. Especially on a street legal car.

Yeah I am learning at DWYB. The first pic was on first DWYB day. I been twice to DWYB. Definitely don't recommend going sideways on public roads. Stick to proper drift practise days 😃😃😃😃😁😁😁😁😎😎😎😎I was at Lydden Hill a few months ago and they had a "drift" session. I can't say I'm a fan really. Haven't read the entire thread.
Once saw a X reg 3 series drift round a fairly empty roundabout whilst I was by the side of the road waiting for a friend. Thought it looked pretty cool and was well held.
Saw a young scrotey looking type pull out of a petrol station in a 30 limit in a slammed stty looking late 90's 318 and thought he looked a cock even if it was well held.
Location has the main thing to do with it. Sometimes inappropriate road use is cool/fun. Wheelies on bikes for example..

Haven't seen one of those in a long time.
Thought rust and scrappage schemes had killed them all.
Thankfully not. Great cars. Thought rust and scrappage schemes had killed them all.
Did see a M3 last year, that was nice, lhd would have been strange but it was a lovely car.
Not quite getting the op's last post.
Something about dislikers going to dislike and then lots of numbers...?

Depends on circumstances.
Not long ago I was at the lights at the m40 High Wycombe roundabout, and some chav in an old impreza estate started doing a stationary burnout in the traffic! Unless he had converted it to rwd it must have shagged his centre diff. As I slowly drove past I did think 'what a bell'

Unrealistic scenario. Even the cheapest kids are far more expensive than that.
Also what if it's a clean, shiny well looked after, enthusiast owned example like E977 UKM?
That it had just been nicked? Also what if it's a clean, shiny well looked after, enthusiast owned example like E977 UKM?
No google will forever find this plate if any plod or potential buyers looking for info on this car. 10p short was threatened in court about his flippant posts about using the road as a racetrack following his accident. It was reported in the press iirc.
Re the op. I love my cars and driving in general but always think fkwit when seeing this in the town centre.
E977 UKM
