...on a 16 year old car with the usual Merc of this vintage rust, an oil leak and a rough running V12?
No, nothing, nothing at all. It'll be fine
No worries I`ll park an Oil barrel on my lawn ( along with frozen sausages hammered into the ground), some home tools and a six pack of gregs why dontcha - No, nothing, nothing at all. It'll be fine

That is an awesome machine, do keep us updated.
Anyone know how many of these were sold in the UK, if at all?
They werent offered in Europe, all Japanese/Arab markets. Anyone know how many of these were sold in the UK, if at all?
Not sure why, but as the cars was ridiculously expensive ( 7.0 option 45.000 Pounds in 1998 ) perhaps Mercedes deemed there was no market for it on these shores...
The car has been paid now, shipping was a sensible 1000 quid Japan-Norway Roll on Roll off.
I bet those 16 year old mercs love spending a month at sea, that SALTY sea air doing wonders for the metalwork!

Its got a V12 NA. 7 liters. 720 NM of torque. 500 bhp of AMG goodness. A certain Horatio Pagani also seems to rate the engine.
Its an S70 AMG from 1998!

Yeah, and a Gallon of fuel is a cool 7 pounds here.
Most expensive fuel anywhere in the world and we are supposed to be an oil nation.

Well done
I presume that before taking such a bold step you've researched the tax cost to register it in Norge? Given that cars in Norway cost twice the price of elsewhere in the EU due to tax, I'd expect them to want to screw you royally for importing a lovely V12 like this one.
Either way, good luck to you, you clearly have petrol in your veins!

That does sound seriously, serious ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5ZIomet8Yk#t=106http://www.pistonheads.com/news/27109.htm
Well, actually it sounds like a superbike, but not as fast...but that's not important right now.
A relative living in the Stavanger area bought himself a Maserati when he sold his business. He poodles around, frustrated by the low speed limits and the severe policing in Norway, so once a year he drives down to Italy to get it serviced "at home". This gives him an opportunity to stretch its legs on the autobahn and to come back with a boot full of wine.
Find yourself a good AMG specialist in Germany and use the car's service as an excuse for a thoroughly indulgent long weekend.......
