People who use the left-hand lane to go all the way around roundabouts, thus blocking the exit for those who use them properly. Every day I use a roundabout with two lanes on the approach, and two exits - nine o clock and three o clock, and the number of people who use the left hand approach to go right is increasing all the time...
M1 J36 northbound exit is actually left hand lane for left, back onto the M1 and right then left/straight at next roundabout. The right hand lane is for right at the roundabout and then straight ahead or right at the next!

clearly marked but so many people go right hand lane to try and turn left at the second roundabout!

Which as that is everyone that smokes in a car, i'll just shorten it to "people that smoke in cars".

I covered some 45,000 miles commuting through london and I can't say this has ever (knowingly) happened to me (people blocking my way). I have had people not paying attention and tehrefore not moving over, but most people (certainly in my experieince through rush hour) were happy to make a bit of room (I always loved it when a lorry driver would make a huge effort to move an inch, I always tried to show extra gratitude)

I said "cars". Everyone knows that people that drive vans are lovely - they wouldnt do something like litter the countryside with fag ends.

then run risk of police being involved if you don't stop and insurance claims if you. Saying this makes you just as bad people who are blocking filtering motorcyclists
oh i dont actually do it, its just a pipe dream lol :-)

Depends on the roundabout. Sometimes the RH lane is for going straight on.

People who sit with their foot on the foot brake in queues of traffic, especially in cars with LED brake lights. Obviously not the worst driving habit, but so completely unnecessary and utterly thoughtless and/or selfish.
This is one that really gets me! Using an MX5 I often get blinded by the new-gen LED rear lights, especially on the big 4x4's like the Disco4/X5 etc, it's absolutely painful to sit behind them...
I noticed the auto-hold setting on the golf, when stopped at traffic lights is supposed to put the handbrake on, but it sits there holding the brakes on, with the brakes lights on the whole time. Driving at night now I turn it off and have to fumble about with the silly switch. Wish it had a basic hill holder like my impreza.

People who can't maintain a constant speed.

If someone wants to do 40 in a 50 then I am fine with that. I will stick my cruise on at 40 and hang around and overtake if there is a chance.

But do not go from 40 to 60 to 50 to 40 to 50 to 60 to 30 to 60.

That is just moronic you oxygen thieving scum tosser goat piss drinking dick up arse taking evil bding st.
yes

and, more specifically, those who plod along for a few miles at 40mph, you overtake and maintain 60, and then they stay close to the back of you.

Yep, this. On the motorway I have cruise control on, I overtake and then pull in to the inside lane. 1 minute later I'm overtaken by them again as they've speeded up and then they hit the next bit of traffic in the middle lane and so slow down. Repeat multiple times until they finally get caught in the middle lane behind a lorry or something as the outside lane is too scary to use.
yes

The use of cruise control really does show up how incapable other road user are at maintaining a certain speed, and even though their speed seems to vary constantly, they somehow 'stick' with you for miles and miles.

The clutch riding crowd. Rolling forwards and backwards at the lights does not make you a good, controlled driver. It makes you a wker. Unless you have an auto you can't creep forwards also.
This

The really brain boiling aspect is that they aren't even being lazy, it's actually harder work than putting the hand brake on.

Also those who think that when on an entry slip road they have priority over the main road traffic.

One lane on all exits of the roundabout. They split into two just before the roundabout itself. Wasnt very clear in my initial post.

cruise control racers, ie slowly but surely passing someone on the motorway with cruise control engaged, at which point they speed up, where you then pull back in, they drop off, and you slowly catch em again :-)

Not just idiots in the wrong lanes - everyone can be an idiot occasionally, even a road God like me laugh it's what they do to correct it. In particular, cutting across lanes at a roundabout (how Handy Cross at High Wycombe is not a scrapyard every day is beyond me), usually at the last minute and with no consideration of other roads users; and the worst, suddenly trying to exit a motorway at the last minute. I had one person do this so late and suddenly on the M40 J16 last year they had the car on two wheels trying to correct the subsequent skid! Why on earth would you not swear quietly, head to the next junction and come back down the other carriageway? 10 lost minutes or potential carnage??

Get's my goat: people who don't indicate and people who indicate and then move without waiting (the signal-maneuver brigade) and the idiots who refuse to move from the outside lane even when the rest of the road is empty.

This doesn't get my goat - I find it more amusing: the queues of cars in lane 3 of the motorway who won't pull into lane 2/1 even if it's empty for miles ahead and those who sit in the lane 3 queue with half a mile gap between them and the car in front yet still they brake when the car in front does.

I believe that this is unconscious behaviour - we train ourselves to match speeds with the car in front in normal driving, so that it becomes quite automatic. Then, when someone passes on the motorway, if you're driving without paying full attention, I think your driving subroutines start to match speed with the overtaker, because that's what they normally do.
My theory anyway. It is annoying though, but it annoys me less now I think it's not deliberate.

People who panic like crazy and nearly crash when they see an Ambulance, usually on the other side of the road and perform an emergency stop for no apparent reason

The worst one has to be at traffic lights though, the lights change to green....no one moves when the Ambulance is trying to get through....WHY? Surely he/she would rather be moving than navigate around you idiots

possibly. the wife has a tendency to overtake, then pull in front and lift off, often causing a reaction behind or a return overtake. didnt know she was doing it, and doesnt like using the middle or "fast" lanes.

Everyone who uses the A34 between Chieveley and Oxford. Except me.

Seriously though, it's a hateful, awfully policed bit of road with perpetually tw*ttish behaviour which I encounter everyday.

Take last night. A lady in lane 1 drew parallel with me whilst two streams of heavy traffic are flowing at alternating speeds, then realises the car in front of her is slowing for bunching traffic. So she slaps her indicator on and embarks on a lane change, with me beside her and occupying the lane she wants to move in to. Horn, flashing lights, I slam on the brakes to avoid being mashed into the central reservation and she just carries on regardless and changes lanes. Then she just plods on in lane 2 slightly below the NSL, nonplussed by the fact she has nearly put me and my Volvo in the central barrier.
