Yes, very sure. The whine it makes at 7000 rpm is somewhat an indicator also.

I'm 33, a planning manager, and my daily drive is a BMW e91 330d touring - makes a good compromise for doing 18k a year, hauling the family around, and being reasonably entertaining to drive

Posted to this thread two years ago. Things have moved on career wise but the cars haven't changed much.

Left telecoms and the crushing tedium of commuting 3-4hrs a day. Am now an ADI so spend my entire day in Pug207 diesel frown.

Still have the S4 and the Spider but both get used less than ever but I really can't bring myself round to get rid of them as then I'd be terminally depressed at the thought of a lifetime condemned to driving a French 70hp tractorcry

It's a thread about daily drivers, not about your financial position.

Yours is an '08 plate Cooper S isn't it? That's the R56 model with the turbo unit as apposed to the older R53 Supercharged engine. That's what he's getting at.

The older engine stayed in the convertible till 2009 I believe.

Same happened with the F56. The Cooper/S and One all got new engines in 2014 but the other variants retained the older engine (and body style) for a year or two.

Mine is an R52, not an R56. The new R57 convertible with the turbo engine didn't release until Sept 2008, mine is a March 08 car.

The R52 was in production with the supercharged engine up until July 08.

I purposefully wanted one of the last of the supercharged cars wink Even though the turbo R57 makes more power more easily, the supercharged engine with a reduction pulley, milltek, airbox and a GRS intercooler is a great car.
