Failures are unusual I believe, quite a few have been "upgraded" though...

These early RS cars were unique, developed with Porsche & Cosworth, a supercar hiding under the body of a practical estate, had limited production runs and were something you only see on the road once in a blue moon - more exclusive than many super cars even.

The later RS and S models (anything after this C5 RS6) don't do it for me I'm afraid. The S/RS brand has now been diluted to the point where there is a an S/RS model of almost every car in the current Audi range, even the 4x4's, not to mention every other Audi being an S-Line etc. Guess the popularity of car leasing these days means that everyone can now afford to buy into the S/RS brand?

I have driven the C5 RS6 belonging to my father quite a lot, for a few thousand miles whilst borrowing it. Not much compares to it's unique charms.

I drove a B7 RS4 which felt rather flat and slow in comparison, it was about 2 years old at the time. Handled a lot better though.

The C5 we have is mapped to 510 BHP and of course the DRC has been replaced with coilovers.

When dad tested a C6 RS6 it was massively disappointing.

Didn't feel any quicker until about 80mph and squirreled around under braking, it felt all of it's weight and more. I think it's circa 150-200 KG heavier than the c5?

The C6 probably needs to be tuned to get the best out of it which seems crazy when it's circa 580bhp!

I think the latest RS6 looks like it's hit the nail on the head though, we are tracking used prices at the moment.

I've always lusted after one of these.

Anyone remember it in Gran Turismo 2, on the PS2? The Zonda was the fastest car in that game, followed by this. It's always the one I chose and loved it wide ass!

Seen some going for around £6.5k, but probably with ruinous big bills looming...

It was in GT2? eek

Surely nothing is faster than a Pikes Peak Suzuki Escudo boosted up to 2000hp hehe

that is the problem, only 315bhp,dainty size estate, six speed manual and excellent reliability, dont tell everyone they will all want one and mine.

It's not like they're alone.

I know, it's a real shame, just dilutes the whole range and makes everything a bit mediocre, a bit less special. Still, if it selling cars for the manufacturers then who am I to argue?

I do kind of see your point. As a c6 rs6 owner I am obviously biased but I still feel that the c6 is special and possibly the last of its kind - I doubt we'll see another 5.0 v10 twin turbo super-estate.

I was massively disappointed when I drove the RS4. Certainly not slow, but didnt feel as fast as I expected. Went round corners very well, but I got bored quite quickly.
That sounds more like the B7 RS4 (the V8 one).

Guess we're in the same boat. Owner of an E60 M5 & love it to death, won't ever sell it. Unfortunately it does seem as if they really are the last of their kind.. Wish both V10s made it into more of their respective company's ranges. frown

Never had the pleasure of driving any RS model but imagine the C6 (especially in estate guise) is probably quite something!

I ha a dream about 12 months ago where I had one of these. Haven't been able to shake the urge to buy one since. Damned new house is getting in the way though. Apparently that's more important.
I wouldn't.
I actually did it the other way.
Swapped my RS6 for the XJR AND and an Impreza wagon for the dog/commute.

It costs me less to run the pair of them than the Audi did on its own.
All parts for the Audi are around 1.5 times more expensive than the Jag, and I used to average 12-14mpg!

The RS6 is however a fantastic car and felt quicker and lighter than the XJR even though it was neither.
As stated in the ad, if you could only have one car, and had around £10k to spend, it should be connsidered.
