haha yeah i have to admit i did chuckle when i seen the over spray on tyres. Like you say its not hard to tape it all off but then again its not hard to take the paint off tyres.

biggrin
That's your thoughts on the matter??

But are they painting them with 2K or is it the liquid wrap?
As said, if using a reasonable quality paint then the £399 would cover paints, consumables, workshop rent and not much else.

If it is vinyl then good luck flatting it!

Ive just repainted a car and I wont post what its costing, I'd laugh in their face if they said theyre making any decent profit.

Not a cash job is it? smile

thinners would take it off or the first corner you take with the flex of the tyre it would crack and break off. Maybe not so much on that car right enough haha

And it's acceptable to leave that to a customer? Would you in the same position?

i suppose i don't like people slagging off a company or a product without actually seeing results themselves. i suppose thats the nature of forums smile

If you look at the pictures on there page some have it and some dont. this photo might have been before they have taken it off?

the Subaru had its wheels sprayed gold. they had over spray on the tyre when i was in the garage but they must have cleaned it all up before taking the photo.

Who knows smile

Wiping tyres with thinners isnt good practice. Far easier to mask them off. If theyre not masking to save time, what other corners are being cut to do it for that amount?

Saying that not everyone can spray, most can, but its not getting the pot with runs in thats the tricky bit smile

Post lots of pics when you get it back then Gav.

At the end of the day it depends on how much you value your own time and fingertips doesn't it? This chap is willing to spend hours removing paint from tyres, trim and glass, wet sanding, cutting, buffing, polishing...

I suppose if you can still convince yourself that it's 'only cost you 399' then you'll consider it a 'bargain' whereas for me it'll have cost me about 10 hours of Saturday or Sunday top of that, and even if I was earning the same amound as a regular bodyshop painter would be an extra 250 plus materials and consumables (and my Saturday / Sunday / fingertips are worth more than that).

I have plenty time on my hands and ive always wanted to learn the art of wet sanding a car. Its not easy to do.

have to remember not everyone is car enthusiasts. im fact most people pic a car out for the colour not somuch the condition of the paint and a little bit of orange peel.

you say orange peel to an average person you know what there thinking of.

i suppose its down to how far you want to go.

I'd leave that as it is. For a track car that looks fine.

Can't wait to see the finished job though.

I want this to look half OK. One to stick one up the arse of keyboard warriors and another to find me somewhere I can get a cheap respray.
