Car hasnt been started in a while, getting out & putting bk?
Discussion
Hi guys,
I have a weekend car thats been tucked away in the garage since the beginning of September and won't be coming out until March next year.
Trouble is though, when I put it in the garage in September I have a lot going on and didn't get the chance to give it a good clean and put the breathable cover of it, to tuck it away 'properly' so to speak.
I can't get it in the garage without starting the engine (though I can roll it out). I don't really want to start the engine for all of 10 seconds because it's obviously not good for it seeing as it has been, and will be sitting around for a while, and I can't really leaving it running for 30 mins because it's quite loud and the neighbours hate me enough for it!
tl;dr version - how to get car in garage without starting it (impossible to push it in without 3 or 4 people helping)?
Any suggestions?
Daniel

Seriously?!
Just start it up, reverse it out and leave idling (or shut off) whilst you do what you need and then drive back in.
I have a car that is only used between March and October and if I need to move it out the garage I just connect up the battery and start it up.
You won't damage it doing this ever now and then

Thanks for all your replies.
I'm only assuming it does the car no good to start it up and almost immediately shut it off because all the oil in the engine has sunk to the bottom?
The plan was to leave it untouched until March and change the oil / oil filter before starting it up again?
I'm perfectly happy to be proved wrong about this, I'm not the most mechanically minded of people!

Once you start it the damage is done.I'm only assuming it does the car no good to start it up and almost immediately shut it off because all the oil in the engine has sunk to the bottom?

Getting the oil warm and circulated wont reverse the cold start wear and tear.
The worse thing about starting a car, and shutting it down quickly is if it only gets slightly warm, condensation is produced, which contains small amounts of various acidic chemicals, which aren't nice/good. As long as you let it run until it's just gets the water thermostat open, and the rad hot, it should be fine. A few good blips for the neighbours is helpful as well!!!
