Really sorry to hear about your illness. Your attitude sounds so calm on here and that's much to your credit, I hope you are really able to maximise your available time and I hope too that your available time turns out to be much longer than the current estimate.

May I suggest doing something different.
1/ Spend a grand doing this. http://www.palmersport.com/full-day-programme.aspx
It is a most outstanding day out.
2/ Spend a few hundred quid doing this ( use their caterham) - and get some cheap tuition on the day http://www.bookatrack.com/event-calendar
3/ Hire a proper supercar for a weekend.
4/ Spend your weekends getitng some test drives of interesting cars. (Free)
5/ Hire something like these... http://www.greatescapecars.co.uk/pricesbooking.asp
£350 for an E Type for a weekend. Not too shabby.
I wouldn't be putting money into a daily drive.
Good luck fella.
Absolutely this. A car is just a material possession, a 'thing', and becomes a burden which will have to be regretfully sold off after all said and done. Experiences are far more enduring than any material possession... Do these, and you'll cram a shot of concentrated eau de la petrolhead into every month with no worries about ongoing commitment. 1/ Spend a grand doing this. http://www.palmersport.com/full-day-programme.aspx
