I've been driving for nigh on forty years and not once have I been more than the slightest bit inconvenienced by the dazzle of brake lights from a car in front in a queue.
Fog lights, on the other hand, are a totally different matter. Back in the day, my mother owned a Toyota Starlet (Or, was it a Honda Civic?). The fog lights in that were on rocker switches which reset to off whenever the ignition was turned off. YOYOY can't all cars be fitted with them?
Agreed, brake lights on have never bothered me in the slightest and probably never will. I think some people have too much time on their hands to get worked up over stuff like this tbh.Fog lights, on the other hand, are a totally different matter. And free mints on a Thursday.

The people who do this are normally also the ones riding the clutch at lights no matter how long they are sitting there. As soon as the lights go green they are already 100 metres down the road before I have even put it in gear. Why?
I know what you mean, but a quicker safe get away is to leave it in gear, clutch in hand brake on, hand on handbrake.Lights change, off handbrake, off you go. Same as I do in my auto, leave in "D", hand brake on, hand on hand brake, lights change, off handbrake, foot down on going faster pedal.

And another thing which pisses me off, you go to a supermarket, and get to the check out.
The person in front puts all their stuff on the conveyor belt, (don't mention planes, please), but DO NOT PUT THE SEPERATOR THINGY AFTER THEIR STUFF. Lazy ignorant barstewards, probably the same people who drive home and keep the foot on the brake in stationary traffic.

Ha! I love doing that to see what the people will do.The person in front puts all their stuff on the conveyor belt, (don't mention planes, please), but DO NOT PUT THE SEPERATOR THINGY AFTER THEIR STUFF. (More scan on the go now but hey, when I am in the mood, quite funny with a single item)

Worst still is when they come to pay they (women usually) have to search their bags to find their purse. Even worse start looking for coupons. Come on it isn't really a surprise that you have to pay is it? Worst still people taking forever to put their car in gear and release the handbrake at traffic lights so all the cars behind them have to wait as the lights have changed by the time they finally set off! Electronic handbrakes and auto hold should be compulsory

I can't get my head around this why so many drivers have their feet on brakes when stopped. It is irritating for the driver who is behind them.I know this subject has been here before.
Handbrake on or put that little lever in park when you have a automatic. Are people that insecure?
I drive my car with Auto Hold engaged which automatically applies the handbrake when I stop and means I don't need my feet on the brake. Annoyingly though it illuminates the brake lights for the entire time the handbrake is applied.Handbrake on or put that little lever in park when you have a automatic. Are people that insecure?
So, if you pull up behind a 5 Series with it's brake lights on the chances are it isn't a lazy driver.

Big fecking sign with tariffs, no worries, she ignores all that, puts ticket to ticket machine. (Me and most other drivers read the tariffs, and have the money handy as we approach the ticket machine)
She looks up, It says £2.20
Opens bag, finds purse, scrabble scrabble, finds a pound coin and puts it in machine, looks up.
Amazing, still owners £1.20
Back to purse, rattle rattle, finds another pound coin, puts that in.
Looks up, amazed again, still owes 20p
Back to purse, rattle rattle, finds 20p (FFS), puts it in.
Me thinking "FFS she has done it, now feck off"
But NO, closes purse, puts purse in bag, closes bag, puts bag on shoulder, and ONLY THEN does she take the ticket out of the ticket machine.
Then you know she is off to her car, god elp us.

I didn't know modern cars did that and have to say its the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. So, if you pull up behind a 5 Series with it's brake lights on the chances are it isn't a lazy driver.
It's like the hi-viz culture these days - more must be beterrer. I'd like to see the stats for the number of people rear-ended with their handbrake on before this modern craze; I bet its miniscule. Still 'if it saves just one life'....,eh
Times change. When learing to drive my father taught me to switch off the indicators and take my foot off the brakes when in a queue at night. I stuck to that for maybe 20 years and still think it's a good approach to showing consideration for your fellow driver. However, my most recent car is fully automatic with a foot operated parking brake which makes trying to do that a major exercise in faff, the "proper" way to drive it is to leave your foot on the brake at lights, and anything else is creating work for yourself. So I'll still turn the indicators off, but I've long since given up on worrying about my brake lights.

I agree. I've no idea why it does it and I don't think it should.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
