OP, despite the negative and sarcastic comments, I feel for you. I have never had a wrap but will have one if the Mustang I get happens to be silver, white or red (do not like those colours and the right car is more important than the right colour on purchase)...so I understand your reason for the wrap.

As stated before, you thought you were getting a good service and weren't to know they would hash it up. Good luck with the court action.

I had that issue myself when I had a kitcar built for me (Eagle SS) 22 years ago and subsequently ditched it only to be informed that the car had been built with a bent chassis. The company disappeared and I moved on (learning never to go down that route again).

Best of luck and perhaps if the trim and small parts are the only issues and the car was a good lump of money, would it be better to get them just to remove the trim and small parts wraps, negotiate a partial refund (in your favour) for the other parts and get those parts rewrapped elsewhere (court action will probably be dragged out somewhat).

Just a thought.
I understand you want it all sorted out but if the whole wrap removal reveals more scratches, you would then have to get the cost completely reassessed and will all have to be included in the claim (and you won't know until the wrap is removed) Perhaps legal advice will give you a better idea.

OP, I know you don't want to name and shame the company on here. Can you tell me which county they are based in though?

I'd be going with a letter before action making it plain if they don't cooperate the next letter with be from the Northampton court clearing centre for small claims.
I sent them a letter last week with two options.

1. Give me my refund and pay the damage
2. Court action

I've spelt it out so many times but hear nothing. Shame as it could be resolved so easy!
time to go here and start the claim then

You've already done your best to protect their interest.

Since they are not complying and taking the p1ss, maybe it's time to name and shame so as to prevent others from having to suffer the same mishap.

I've got a white wrap on my black Honda Civic Type-R by a company called Raccoon, which has been on there for over 5 years and still looks pretty much like it did when I collected it.

The only tell-tale signs are that the wrap is pretty much shredded where it covers the inside of the wheel arches, and of course the obligatory stone chips. I've definitely got my monies worth though (~£1100 when I got it).

I'm amazed someone would full-wrap a brand new car in a colour that is only slightly different than the one it already has. Would it have cost an additional £2000 to get the same car in the colour you actually wanted?

Whatever anyone tells you, wraps don't look as good as paint - detailed or otherwise, and generic colour wraps on a brand new "normal" car (Supaguard or whatever notwithstanding) seems bizarre. You either make it worth doing - e.g. by blingy chrome, matt or some kind of radical colour change, or don't bother. Silver to Satin Grey.... huh?

So after ignored phone calls, texts, emails and voicemails I've been left with no choice but to push the legal button today.

So frustrating as the wrap is coming away in various areas and finding it a bit embarassing! Where its peeling away on the chrome you can see the knife marks in that too!

The Pink G wagen is different, but there's no accouting for taste

Yes because I'm considering a carbon-effect wrap
I agree, it's not actually naming and shaming. It's protecting your fellow pistonheaders from this company.

If its thousands less than list -I'd have that -rip the stuff off though.

WHY would anyone with 'that' wrap-taste consider a G wagen?!!!
It's £6,000 dearer than a brand new one without the hideous wrap.

Naming and shaming is against the forum rules so it would only be removed by a mod anyway.

Brilliant yes
How much does it affect your insurance whistle
There can be benefits of a wrap.
If you go for a paint job instead it can start to show through after a couple of years of stone chips and there are usually a few bits of inadvertant overspray

Made no difference to me on Admiral! You have to declare it. But worth noting that they won't cover the cost of it should you be involved in a accident!

I would never wrap a car. I don't think they ever look as good as proper paint. I'm also not convinced they protect the paint that much, as I've seem the mess of some paint jobs after the wrap comes off.

You can't avoid stone chips and even the harsher ones will still damage the body and paint below the wrap.

I'd have saved the £2000 to pay for front end paint jobs when needed.

I do feel for the OP though. You pay good money for a service and you have a right to expect a quality job.

Let us know how you get on with getting the problem resolved.
as mentioned above by silver fox, venture shield will protect all paintwork from all stone chips, even decent sized stones kicked up from the bike in front at 160mph. anything big enough to crack bike fairings would leave a dent on a car i think, but it really does work well for preventing stone chips.

OP, can you tell me which county they are in? I have had some spray work done FOC through someone I know and the quality was quite appalling. The person I know reassured me that they work on a lot of high end cars and do wraps for celebrities etc. and I just want to know if it's the same person I'm dealing with.

A sad situation but it looks like the only option. Hopefully it is all sorted, I wouldn't let it put you off wraps. Two of my cars friends have been wrapped and theirs were almost perfect, a couple of join lines and a slightly crumped wrap as it went into a seem. Imperfections are to be expected but from the pics you've provided yours was definitely below standard!
