I find it more amusing that so many people have such a massive stick up their arse about vinyl wrapping cars. It's not exactly a new thing.
Only on PH could this be made the OPs fault for getting burned by a supposedly reputable company doing an awful job.
Couldn't agree more! Good luck with sorting it OP, and ignore the negative comments, each to their own and im sure many a pistonhead-er has spent a chunk of money on their pride & joy for one reason or another that many would look at with scorn. Good luck in sorting it, my advice would be a letter registered delivery, warning of small claims court to recover all costs, including the removal and rectification of any damage by an independent company... Or Mercedes themselves. The fact it was a brand me car helps your case that the date was done by them.
Or... Did you pay via debit or credit card? Both offer degrees of protection on goods bought that later fail to meet expectations.
Thanks for your comments.
I'd rather leave the name absent as at this stage it wouldn't help anyone.
The car is off to Mercedes this week to quote the damage so far that's known. I've already got figures for stripping and rewrapping the car, however I'd rather resolve things amicably and get them to remove it, my money back and the damage paid for.
Wrap was invoiced and then I transferred the funds. With hindsight I should have tried to make payment on card.
Fortunately I have good legal advice on tap, although I'm sure no one enjoys that route.
Will keep you all up to date as it unfolds

Genuinely sorry to hear about your troubles with this, OP...but in hindsight is that really all you've learnt from this?I'd rather leave the name absent as at this stage it wouldn't help anyone.

I was in a bmw dealer a while back .. They had an fairly new X5 out the back that had been traded in that had been wrapped.
They had tried to remove the wrap .. And boy was it a mess .. They said that it was the first wrapped car they had taken in px and then said absolutely the last !
Salesman said it was off to the auctions and they were going to lose a fortune on it
They said it was worthless to them and they would never offer a bid on a wrapped car ever again
I suspect anyone with half a brain would not be in the market for a wrapped car. Unless of course your bid is so incredibly low that it covers a full respray to original manufacturers quality, a decent hire car for a couple of weeks, the cost of replacing sliced up trim and rubber, plus a massive bonus pot left over to account for your wasted time and effort for all of the above. Even then, no thanks. Life is too short. They had tried to remove the wrap .. And boy was it a mess .. I agree (although I made a joke about it above). Only on PH could this be made the OPs fault for getting burned by a supposedly reputable company doing an awful job.
I went to a wrap place near Cambridge when thinking about a colour change. There were no customer cars to see, and the guy who owned the Lamborghini that was due in the following week (supposedly) did not want anyone seeing his car being wrapped.
But I'm still thinking about a wrap for the project car. Do they make RAL2005 as a vinyl?

If you head onto 3M's website along with people like Arlon and Hexis you may find one thats really close! Car had a trip to Mercedes today.
The chrome trim they can't bend back, the rubbers need replacing where cut to prevent water ingress and the grill also needs replacing.
Including fitting it came to a £1,103.88
The wrapping company are still unresponsive but have until Friday to get back to me.
Will keep you posted

I'd be going with a letter before action making it plain if they don't cooperate the next letter with be from the Northampton court clearing centre for small claims.
I sent them a letter last week with two options.1. Give me my refund and pay the damage
2. Court action
I've spelt it out so many times but hear nothing. Shame as it could be resolved so easy!
