Budget tyres on a CSL? Surely this must be pretty close to the bottom of the list of cars you'd fit budget tyres to!?

Wildly over-hyped in my view and I've had plenty of time in them.
The E92 M3 is a better car, better engine, much better gearbox - in Manual or DCT.
Get one with the BMW Performance seats and it is superb. The Performance exhaust just tops off the glorious V8.
Could not disagree more with the above. As a car to enjoy driving, the csl stomps over the standard e92 m3 imo. Perhaps the gts might be closer i admit but absolutely not the standard car.

The csl is a really fabulous car even if the smg can be annoying at slow/city type speeds albeit the brakes are a weak point. Still very much regret not getting one a few years ago (and absolutely non price related!).

Over 10.5 years in mine now and it still makes me grin ear to ear when driving. And it is worth about the same as I paid for it, if not more cloud9

Did think that but you at least want it to be predictable & consistent...or is it that "no grip" is consistent. scratchchin

It's probably not about which is the better car. The CSL is a very special and very interesting car. It's different and BMW has done nothing as exciting since. The GTS was IMO, nowhere near as special as the CSL.

Yes, I agree, the E92 is the better car. In the same way as the latest F82 M4 is better than the E9 3.0 CSL. But it's not interesting, nor anywhere near as special. One day it might be.

But for the moment, the E46 CSL is probably the best M3 of the lot - and I include the E30 Sport EVO.

Depends on your definition of budget I suppose. Without knowing the specific tyres, a bit of a meaningless statement.

Better looking, but not a better driver than the E28 M5 and brakes pretty mediocre. Now if there was a M635CSiL...

Check out the last page 'Art of Speed' section of Evo next month.

And in the meantime, stick some headphones in and enjoy : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiDuj8L3dh4&li...
Jesus that noise is insane. reminds me how few engines sound amazing (rather than exhausts)

Then it would win.

For having the longest and most ridiculous name.
Actually wait that still goes to the X6 xDrive40d M Sport.
