Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but the gearbox is supposed to be rubbish in these
Same gearbox as a standard M3, just the SMG operation, but when you know how to use it its ok, and more importantly its part of the charm of the car. Its no DCT, but then again, if you want that, buy a V8 ;0)

CSL > E30 M3 for me, but it's pretty close. When it comes down to it, I just find the E46 marginally more exciting
My issue was the cost for a car that rusts ;0( and for me the SMG was a must, knackered knee, so the dog box and clutch of the E30 wouldn't have worked, plus left hand drive at the Drive Through doesn't work either ;0)

I'm seriously considering a CSL. Should I buy one?

That's what worries me. Will be doing my homework over the next couple of months with a view to a potential purchase towards the back end of the year.

The way things are going there seems to be real traction building in the market for these now - even next month's Classic & Sports Car has one on the cover. Unless there is an imminent bursting of the bubble, and GT3 prices start tumbling, then I think CSLs will jump in value again over this summer. A lot of owners (myself included) have little interest in selling, and there just weren't many produced in the first place

These are the real deal. Easy car to knock by the uninitiated for many reasons - gearbox, seats, badge - but for me and many others these are just incredibly special cars. They're also a bit noisy wink
