Well anyone got one/driven one?

I want a car to leave at the station, chuck the muddy dog in, let my mum drive wink, leave overnight in nottingham wink

Seems perfect. No alloys to nick no stereo to nick. 6k new.

Checking autotrader not a single used bare bones model for sale.

Surely they must have sold at least one of the very basic ones.

Out of interest, why both getting a new car for even £6k if you want to treat it like a £500 car?

Genuinely interested, no offence meant

He's not - the OP is bemoaning the lack of used ones available

Valid point. I'd prefer nearly new to be honest. Warranty/no rust ( for a few years). Plan to run it into the ground. My mum won't drive a 500 quid shed. But a 15 plate...

I think a 10 year old Focus 1.6 would be perfect for your needs.

£1000, 40mpg, a few creature comforts, generally very durable indeed. Still look modern, in my opinion at least.

I'd buy the Dacia. No fannying about with old car maintenance issues. Makes good sense compared with leaving a "nice" car at the station.

No used ones. Guess why? The owners like them and keep them.

We've sold hundreds of Dacias and sold 2 (Yes, 2) Access Sanderos.

Most people pay the £800 premium and have the Ambiance spec for colour coded bumpers, stereo, bluetooth, RCL etc.

It's just a better package.

Reliability, will start when he needs it, working heater, cheap available parts if anything breaks, cheap to insure and run. Probably.

I wonder if real poverty spec sanderos will be super rare hard to find £10000 classics in 20 years time?!

Perhaps, but reliability can be sought for bargain prices, still.

As with new and nearly new cars, warranties don't guarantee reliability - only zero financial outlay should it fail.

They often still involve tiring trips to the dealers, being let down and so on.

A Dacia is just a cheap Renault, is it not?

Just buy a £1000 old Volvo. In many ways it'll be a better car and won't look like a mobile version of a supermarket savers brand.

How about a Suzuki Alto at the same price. Possibly slightly smaller if that is important, but probably cheaper to run and with a a few useful goodies smile

No.

Like a 1988 Ford Escort 1.3 Popular isn't a £10k car.

Just old & crap.

Most Brits will buy a car with a decent spec. Look at the Nissan CashCow and most of the sales are of premium/higher models.

Do the rust issues of the Stepway apply to the Sandero?
