I can't get my head around all the forms and procedure to do a whole load of vehicular administration all in one go!

I have just bought a used car on a standard 09 plate. I'll be collecting the car on the 18th December and already have insurance in place from then. We'll be taxing it on-line before I drive off the dealer's forecourt. All on the standard plate.

My brother has been using my plate while I have been out of the country, this is currently on a retention certificate V778.

I'll be wanting to put the new plate on my new car as soon as I get it home smile

I will have the new keeper part of the V5 and the V778 signed by my brother.

So, all at the same time I will need to:

1) Transfer ownership of the plate from my brother's retention cert to me (nominee?)
2) Take ownership of the car
3) Assign the plate to the car
4) Change the number of the taxed vehicle
5) Inform insurance company (I can do this one!)

Is it going to be possible to send off multiple forms at once to DVLA to do it all in one go? It looks like 25 pounds to transfer the plate to new 'nominee' and 80 pounds to put it on the car? Is this right? Is it just the V778, New keeper part of the V% and a V62 form required?
