An extended range fuel tank, the one on mine seems stupidly small! It gets boring filling the thing up with fuel after a couple of hundred miles.

Although maybe this is what we have to put up with for having a smooth 6 cylinder turbo that doesn't run on the devils juice. hehe

Heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control would be fantastic. A rear wiper would be convenient but it's no on my essentials list!

What possible excuse could there be for modern cars not having at least one cup holder?
Mercedes charge £50 for a cup holder. I decided not to add it to the options list and delegate cup-holding duties to my boyfriend.

Citroen DS5 - some rear suspension would be a good feature to add.

Nice display between the dials on my SLK. Plenty of unused "real estate" on the bottom part, where the clock is. Why can't it display the outside temp in anything other than "odo" mode?

This next one is on my bike, not my car, but it's really really annoying....
MV Agusta F4. Nice big multi-function digital display, speedo, tacho, temp - it's got split/lap timers. But NO CLOCK! Why? What cost or extra bulk would a clock have added? Bunch of arse!

My car is basic but all the toys would add weight I dont want

But, cupholders would be nice, storage in the arm rest and a decent satnav/phone head unit rather than the mostly useless thing that Lotus supplies (to be fair the nav is fine, but phone is dire)

Things I have had previously but dont feel the need for:

auto dimming mirrors
heated steering wheel
electric headrests
elec seats

DAB radio
Heated windscreen
Memory drivers seat that also moves back/down to allow you room to get in and out. I am agile but if my wife was the last driver I have to move the seat in order to get in. This means both of us have re-adjust the driving position every time we change over.

Bizarrely, Porsche do not allow you to have a multi-function steering wheel in combination with gearshift paddles.

I really wanted a paddleshift steering wheel for my 911, as the multifunction means you are left with the unsatisfying push buttons with the PDK. However, now i'm undecided as my wheel is heated which is a really nice feature at the moment! Starting to think i'm best off in an old Jag...

The ability to get into my car when its frozen would be useful, drop down windows are nice to look at but annoying when frozen.

Otherwise, DAB radio, heated front windscreen and adaptive cruise control (is it that hard to maintain a certain speed nowadays?)

If it's been raining, opening the boot means whatever is in there will be getting wet. A feature which prevented that would be nice. mad

1. Steering wheel with reach adjust (I'm 6ft 5 and have to choose between pedal comfort or better control)
2. Seat that can be lowered another 3-4 inches (see above)
3. Seat with lumbar support
4. Adaptive cruise for the 4 times a year when it would be useful

Car currently has all the auto lights, wipers, leather heated seats, electric seats, heated front/rear windows, heated mirrors & jet nozzles, electric seats, ambient lighting, cup holders etc etc all standard but cruise control is extra, crazy!

Also i agree with heated side windows, 1 minute my car was defrosted this morning front and back...but side windows took about 10mins to fully defrost, really annoying!

Have:

  • heated and air-con seats front and rear
  • fold-down screen in the rear with wireless headphones, DVD changer in the front
  • electric seats front and rear
  • radar cruise control and lane keep
  • self parking/rear camera/sensors
  • adjustable air suspension
  • tyre pressure sensors
  • auto wipers/lights/headlight washers
  • satnav with FM traffic feed
  • rear electric sunblinds
  • electric wing mirrors, steering wheel
  • electric tailgate and soft close doors
Would like:

  • the magic screen thing where the passenger can watch something different from the driver
  • terabyte hard drive for movie/mp3 storage, rear seatback screens and independently selectable video/music sources for all four passengers (not sure if this exists) - three separate headphone sources and one for the main speakers
  • massaging seats
  • traffic sign recognition
  • overhead, front, side cameras
  • Magic body control
  • better satnav with live internet traffic and IQ routes stuff
  • heads up display with night vision http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/media_libr...
