Best exhaust note for under £10k
Discussion
As is so often the way, real life has got in the way of my motoring dreams and made me daydream even more.
I've just had twins, and already had an older kid, so it's people carrier city for me.
But it got me thinking: if I was going to spend £5k - £10k on a daily commuter, I'd want it to be fun, fast(ish) and have a great exhaust note. And be low maintenance...
Any suggestions? Fait 500 Abarth seems fairly rorty but a gross retro-mobile.

My first thought was Golf R32. Sound great straight out of the box. Not that fast though and quite thirsty. Otherwise I think any v6 with a decent exhaust can sound great. Perhaps not so good on mpg though...
R32s always did sound good.I guess it depends what exhaust noise you like, you could probably get an older big V8 pretty cheap, stick a free flowing exhaust on it and enjoy.
Alpina E39 B10 V8?

An S4 with a V8?
Good shout. An Avant one drove by me yesterday when I was out walking, and I'd forgotten how nice they sound. The low-speed burble was lovely. Can't remember if the old C5 S6 and the A6 4.2 sounded as good?Edited by Leins on Wednesday 26th November 11:49
It's no AMG V8, but then you won't want baby food splattered all round your AMG either.
